Night & Day

Post by DescendingSadly »

Hi guys,
I've noticed when creating scenarios, that when selecting autumn, and a time such as 18:00 when usually it would be pitch black, it's just turning dusk in game.

How can I make it night?

It depends on TimeOfDay Blueprint, you can create your own if you want. See Developer Documents: 2.12 Time of Day Blueprints or http://www.railsimdownloads.com/wiki/ti ... e%20Manual

The TimeOfDay Blueprints for all default routes are at ...\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorCore\TimeOfDay:
- Core_Autumn
- Core_Spring
- Core_Summer
- Core_Winter

...you can edit there sunset and sunrise times for each season, as well as dawn, morning, noon, dusk, nigth, etc.

For new routes I recommend create new TimeOfDay Blueprints based on local astronomic parameters. The default ones are not realistic, sunset is not at the same time in Newcastle than in San Bernardino.

Hi there, once again I thank you for your help.

I can't open these in blueprint editor and when I try in asset editor when I click any mouse button it minimises the program!

Is there anything else I can edit them with?
Sorry to be a pain.

The best editor is RW-Tools. ( http://www.rstools.info/index.html )
Files -- Open Railworks File -- then open the .bin.
after editing: Files -- Save Railworks File.
good luck.

Hi guys, i'm back.

Thanks very much for your help.

I tweaked the file but it was very hit and miss.

Could someone please tell me what I need to edit the values to, to have daytime from 08:00-15:00 and pitch black night time from 17:00 - 07:00

Thanks again guys. Sorry.

Hi,

Have a look at http://www.railsimdownloads.com/wiki/ti ... Blueprints , or Rail Simulator Developer Documents: 2.12 Time of Day Blueprints which is part of RsDevTools Docs and you can download it from http://www.railsimulator.com/en/railsimfiles

I hope it helps.

Hi there, thanks for your help.

Unfortunately they do not really explain how I would achieve complete pitch black between the times I want. At the moment I do get night time, but it's not "realy" night time. I can see almost everything I can see during the day, but I know RW can go darker than that.

Although, I think, it's not possible to get a completely dark night, you can change the upper and lower sky colours (completely black, for example) as well as the moon light, back fill, uplight, and ambient colours.
