Question about Britsh RR speeds

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Question about Britsh RR speeds

Post by keybanger »

Hi All! I know very little about British railroading, so a little info. would be most appreciated. Although routes have top speeds of 125MPH, are goods train restricted to lower speeds by track operating rules, or possibly by the class of goods being carried? As an example, I can't see loaded coal trains, or trains carrying hazardous materials doing 125MPH. Thanks in advance for any replies. Cheers; Chuck F.

All trains in Britain have a class (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_repo ... in_Classes) which in the case of freight shows what speed it is allowed to run at, but the maximum permissible line speed will override it if lower. The class will in the main depend on the type of wagons in the train and may vary depending on whether they are loaded or empty.

While we are on this, has anyone managed to get the secondary speed to work ?,Ive tried everything still no luck,I cant see why you need primary and secondary speeds in the track blueprints if the secondary speed is useless.
