Birmingham x-city - incorrect signal aspects

Post by congoblue »

OpenBVE newbie here, on the Birmingham x-city route. However I used to work in signalling on the real railway so was offended to see a signal displaying yellow and green... it was on the main line after Barnt Green - it should have been a double yellow as the next signal is yellow. It's the Summer Daytime route (near the bottom of the list of routes), and it's like that every time.

Also, sometimes after leaving Longbridge (I think), I am stopped at a red signal due to a visible stationary train in the section ahead which just sits there forever and you have to cancel the simulation - am I supposed to do something here? (Get out and talk to the signalman?!)

Is it an lu style 4 aspect (ie, Green on top and yellow at bottom? Sounds like a signal load reference error in that its loaded an LU 4 as pect home/repeater combi instead of a 4 aspect BR Signal?

Umm, not sure, will have a look when I get home tonight. I think the lit aspects were in the correct place, ie top and middle, but the middle one was green instead of yellow.

Sorry, but I only see double yellows. Could you specify the exact route file and also the position of the signal? Click F10 and a lot of data will be shown on the screen, including the current position of train and camera.

Green/yellow is also a Japanese signal, which are used by openBVE when no other signals are specified in the route. I don't suppose you accidentally installed the BVE 2 version?

Well spotted - using BVE2 instead of BVE4 was indeed the problem - also with my other problem not getting the guards buzzer.
Thanks for the help!
