Birmingham X-City South OpenBVE

Post by Andy20 »

Ok so I have downloaded the OpenBVE version of this great route and I have a question...

When I am driving it and go to the stations along the way... I get no guard buzzer sound. Is that supposed to be happening? I remember when I played the BVE4 version about a year or so ago on my old computer it used to have a guard buzzer sound when I went to every station and then when I arrived at New Street it would have the announcement guy when you reached the station which was a nice touch :)

I haven't gone all the way to New Street yet but my thinking is... If I can't get the guard buzzer sound at stations then maybe there is a problem with my computer making some of the sounds on that route and when I arrive at New Street there won't be any announcements either? All other routes on my OpenBVE work fine but the Birmingham X City South is the only one where the guard doesen't buzz at stations when I assume he should be.

The guard's buzzer is produced by the train, so I'm not sure how the route matters unless there are so many ambient sounds that your system cannot play all of them simultaneously. Which train were you using? Do you hear the buzzer when you use that same train on a different route?

The PA sounds, on the other hand, are initiated by the route. If you are wondering about the sounds at New Street, why don't you check? If you don't want to drive the entire way, just use the 'jump station' feature.

Good points, I have the refurbised 323 so maybe it's because of that? I'll download the unrefurbished one and try that. and yes I could jump station and see what it's like at New Street... Thank goodness for the added extras on OpenBVE :D

Are you using manual or auto door close? If you operate the doors yourself then you won't get the buzzer unless you add the sound onto the doorclose sound. The "leave" or "RA" sound will only play when using auto doors. Hope this helps??
