Is anyone going to make this?

Another popular Train Simulator with the notable highlight of being freeware! Also note the new OpenBVE version with many new features - well worth a look!

Is anyone going to make this?

Post by CaptainBazza »

I'm putting up this thread as the result of a request to separate out 'requests' from the other posts. There is has been no objection to a separate thread on the topic by the mods.

Requests for certain objects to be built, or just plain enquiries whether some author is contemplating making one, (excluding routes) is always a touchy subject. Some people object to such requests as being pushy and the usual retort is, why not get cracking and do it yourself? Okay, that takes care of the hysterics, let's move on.....

In my opinion, as a model author since day one of MSTS and earlier as a modeler for FU2/3, I don't have a problem with requests or enquiries. Indeed, over 60% of projects for MSTS1/TRS/RS/RW I've done, or are currently engaged in, have been as the result of requests and enquiries of interest. I think most authors see this as encouraging and a source of ideas for possible future projects. Of course, the model author is the final abiter of what he, or she, wants to do, end of story.

Here are a few simple rules for marrying my daughter, errrr, sorry, for requesting, or making enquiries about models, whether for MPU/stock/scenery objects. Sorry rules in the next post....the IE 8 posting bug has struck again!

1) Give a valid reason why you want a particular model, be it of the type MPU/scenery/rollingstock, ie - is it for a route you're building?

2) Offer to cooperate by way of providing resource material, that, IME, can be the decider by an author contemplating whether to be involved..

3) Don't be pushy, be polite and respect the decision, either way, of the author. (There are many reasons why the author might not choose to be involved.)

This seems a good time and place to remind people of our Object Building Service available just here:

http://www.eezypeazy.co.uk/page26.html

I would endorse the point number 2) which CaptainBazza has made, be prepared to supply your own photographs and measurements, don't just ask for an object if you are not prepared to provide at least a little input!

I'd like to see a Class 377 rework for OpenBVE both ac and dc versions.
I think a Class 91 is due, would suit perfectly on the ECML route.

I was only talking about objects, as I know how hard it can be to build trains. A 91 is planned by oovee I think, yes I saw in another thread. But it won't be coming for a very long time.

OK, since you are asking: I am in great need for a London Routemaster bus. Many people have announced it, but it's still not there as far as I know...

I have textures of a very pretty newly painted routemaster that a friend of mine owns if you want me to email you them?

Once again for everyone's benefit, A 225 set will be made. Most probably the DVT first because as it will be easier and will get that out the quickest. Not that it will be started on until the 350 is released. No animated handle yet, but I think for now it might be released without the animated handle, and then later we will come back to it and animate it.

Just need to animate the horn, reverser, wiper switch (and anything else there might be) and just stuff needs calibrating as there are a few lines round a few objects at the moment. But that can be sorted out easily. :)

I have almost completed, courtesy of photographs by Adam Priseman, just such an object, Hans. Actually it was started last year, but I'll keep quiet about this. Don't tell Adam!

I have just the bonnet to complete, which I shall do this evening, then Adam's permission to seek and I shall send you the object.

Bazza,

On THIS forum I asked many times for help to draw for me the "Patentee" to be used in Rail Simulator or Railworks.
I pay for the works....
And I have enough info and measures.
No reactions at all.

Reason: I don't like modern railways or stock.
I would like to make the oldest route on the main land.

Here are a couple of reasons that could be given to you.

1) People that can draw and can do 3D objects for Rail Sim & Railworks are most likely busy doing their own thing and dont have time to help you. Bearing in mind that most 3D specialist charge per model.

2) Maybe the reason you arent getting any replies is because you are asking in the wrong place......This is the BVE section of the forum. Which is free ware and is nothing to do with Rail Sim or Railworks.

3) I just looked at what you posted in the 'wagon and tank drawings' thread. http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... e#p1031165 and you did actually get an answer! The last post gave you a link to a website of people who can draw a plan for you. So your obviously not being very observant of replies.

But anyway, this thread or section of the forum is not for Railworks or Rail Sim. If you have any more queries then I would recommend posting it in a section of the forum where appropriate.

Oops, I am sorry.

About your link: I don't need plans.
I have plans....
I need somebody drawing the loc and make it ready for RailSim & Railworks.

But thank you any way!

Busheyheath, you have an email with an attachment... Thanks for the prod which I needed to complete this object! (Adam had given up... )

Proof that Captain Bazza's thread has produced a result. The Routemaster object will be available for all to download at http://www.eezypeazy.co.uk when the next issue of BVE Scene is published.
