You meant you enjoyed sitting on your chair?
I think I know what Matt means...its because BVE gives you that something extra surround feeling....that you dont get in MSTS unfortunately. :P
Yea, decent sounds

Other people have said it is quite hard to see since the LED is orange while the background is a darker orange!
But I have no problems seeing it on my computer. Maybe I've got my Brightness and Contrast settings on my monitor right! :P

BVE Screen Resolution

Post by Benarth »

Matt

Many thanks for pointing me at BVE. Found it and its routes very good. In particular the stressless download/installation.

Am I correct in thinking that the low, full screen resolution will be addressed in the near future. Apologies if this point has already been reported on the forum.

Regards

Yes, the full screen resoultion should be addressed. In the beta version 2.9, 1024x768 was allowed!

I can see it perfectly. Perhaps you want to try moving the train in a forward direction! :D

Its probably the monitor settings, but I find that hard to believe, as there must be something wrong with your monitor.

Decided to reinstall the new version of BVE, as a change to running MSTS, as the sounds and cab ride is very realistic. I have all the LU Routes installed, except Piccadilly and Jubilee, as the links show that downloads for these routes are not available. unless someone knows where these routes CAN be downloaded. Like the Glasgow Clockwork Orange too.
The best surface routes are Cross City South, Watford and the Ediburgh - Aberdeen with the Boness branch using the steam loco.
Pity the sound effects for MSTS are not as realistic as BVE. All in all, an excellent simulator if you enjoy running from the cab.
Just one question!
Where can BVE Version 2.9 be downloaded from? This version is mentioed on several download site for routes and trains, but no links to where it can be downloaded.

A full list of UK routes can be found at http://www.virtual-rail.co.uk/bveroutes.htm
A full list of UK trains can be found at http://www.virtual-rail.co.uk/bvetrains.htm
A full list of International routes (only released ones) can be found at http://www.bve-routes.com

Just to be quick though, the Clockwork Orange can be found at http://www.scotrailsim.co.uk and the Jubilee Line (stand alone extension only) is temporarily unavailable but the full line is in production and the Piccadilly Line is available at http://tombeevers2000.free-hosting.org.uk/piccadillybve (the Piccadilly Line requires a high-spec machine).

Thank you for your information Damon. I have got all these sites on My Favorites List and have downloaded all the trains and Routes that appeal to me.
I will have a go at downloading the Piccadilly, but looking forward to the new Piccadilly when it is available.
Just a recap on BVE Version 2.9. This version MUST be available from somewhere, as it would not be mentioned, but I have searched all the BVE links and not found it. It is not on Mackoy's BVE site either.

Just been on the Piccadilly download site for version 3 and apparently, it has been taken off line. So I will just have to wait for version 4

I've investigated it myself Geoff and it appears the 2.9 was a short lived beta version of the new 3.0 that Mackoy is working on. It was released temporarily as a beta for people to test the new version on and then withdrawn while he continues work.

So the short answer is, no, it's not available anymore unless someone can get you a copy - but it is a good sign that 3.0 is well on the way.

Cheers for that Matt. I will stick with Version 2.6 for now as this is a big improvement on the earlier version where you had to self install to various folders with the string. Much better now that it is all included in a exe file.
I found a short Tramway Route for BVE on a Hungarian Site, only half a mile but it's not too bad.
