Best to just stay quiet until it's ready to talk about :)

Think of it like a duck swimming... calm and serene above the surface, but masses of activity under it.

+1, thumbsup, etc, etc to this.

I really don't know why people keep jumping to conclusions about TSW being a flop.

Yeah there are issues. Yeah there are setbacks in development, most likely (it's a software product after all). But why jump to conclusions about it being a flop when it's barely out of the starting gates?

How many routes did we have for RailSimulator in 2007, a year after it's initial release?

OK, I know, there were editing tools and some routes - but how much was offered as DLC? And how much have standards been raised in the past ten years? How much more do we actually demand from technology now?

As a software developer I do have my concerns regarding TSW and it's design and implementation. But I don't actually know anything about the design and implementation, so my concerns, though based on observations from the outside, might be totally unfounded. I will wait and see what the team delivers.
So far they have delivered things which are far beyond what could be done in TS2017, just are much more limited in breadth because we just don't yet have the same breadth of DLC and 3d party content.

I have enjoyed what has been released so far. I'll await what the future brings. Eventually, there will be a lot more variety in content, I'm sure of it.

And if you're unhappy, try to do better....

Cheers,

OK, point taken! It just seems all the threads on here are about bugs, but maybe I've got the wrong impression. It's mainly the price and lack of route mileage (To be fair, that's to be expected from a new sim) putting me off at the moment, plus the fact that I have very little interest in modern traction. I was pretty tired when I wrote that, and looking at it now it's probably too harsh. I'd love to try TSW, but only when it's a bit more cost effective and there's something more interesting than diesels in the sim. Even Southen Electric would interest me more! But I think steam is where TSW will be able to show it's true excellence, once the various bugs have been sorted, but these things happen with new products!

I suppose I also hope that TS development doesn't stop, and thankfully this is one thing that definitely hasn't happened as of yet, in the same way that there is still new (albeit freeware) content being released for MSTS, I don't think it will for some time. Once we begin to see products from the likes of Victory Works released in TSW, then it will be able to truely show it's ability.

Actually, a sim developed by a certain man whom I shan't mention, appears to be offering another interesting side in the form of player-operable signalling (from a signalbox), which would be a nice thing to see in TSW eventually, especially when multiplayer is implemented.

Anyway, I wish you all the very best,

P.S, Broad Gauge in TS, let alone TSW, would be a truely marvellous thing!
