Re: TSW Great Western Express
I think it's pretty good so far, really enjoying the stream.
The HST is the highlight for me, look absolutely fantastic.
Looking forward to giving it a go Thursday evening.

I agree, visually stunning and some nice features and functions. The swaying gangway on the 166 for example

Only caught the last 10 minutes or so of that twitch stream, did they show off the hst in detail, does it sound like a real mtu does? Only asking as near the end of that stream, while the 166 was stationary and a hst went past it didn't sound like an an mtu to me but that could be down to the stream quality etc so I could be totally wrong about that.

Only caught the last 10 minutes of the demo but enough to see that the rails only come into view at a distance of about 30 yards.
Completely kills the illusion.
Would be interesting to know the graphic settings on this test rig.

I think you may have been watching a different stream to me? I watched it all the way through (okay, I missed the first five minutes) and I saw nothing that fits the description you've given. The rails stretched into the distance as I'd expect.

If you're talking about the PC that was playing GWE they said in stream they were using an i7 4790k, 32gb ram and a GTX 970 with all settings maxed out.oldsandals wrote:Only caught the last 10 minutes of the demo but enough to see that the rails only come into view at a distance of about 30 yards.

Re: TSW Great Western Express
Noticed a couple of graphic glitches - one was mentioned on the stream's chat about the wheels
on the rails when in motion but everyone who mentioned it was ignored.
The other is hard to explain, see picture below...

I assume its coach gangways having the same issue as the brake pipes do.

Looking at 1.37.00 it can be seen that the rails are drawn immediately in front of the train, hope it's better than this on the day of release.

Re: TSW Great Western Express
Route looks very good, with many more buildings than previous sims, although I did feel that the screen shots looked much clearer than in the demo to say that all the setting were maxed out. also like the all the services had programed in and you can pick any service to drive, arrive at a station and then jump into another service, downside is the route is just too short. Few nice things in there like the gangways that sway, but there are a few things that have not been put in, lack of cab sway, no sound changes as you go under bridges or shawdows/darking under bridges. These are basics things that should be in there and can be seen/heard from either the cab or as a passenger, swaying air pipe and gangways are need much less needed, did not seem to feature in the stream if dynamic exhurst effects and been modelled in. If it was just down to better graphics and level of detail on buildings I would buy it on Thursday, but it seems to be lacking in certain things, and adding been able to walk all round the station and join another train just seems to highlight the shortness on the route and want to jump onto another service. I think I will be waiting to see what else comes out and how these will be added to other routes or other traction added to this route.
Re: TSW Great Western Express
It does the same again later in the stream with another hst. Hopefully they will have it sorted by Thursdaydavep wrote:Noticed a couple of graphic glitches - one was mentioned on the stream's chat about the wheels

Re: TSW Great Western Express
I suspect DTG have already got the release version in Steam ready for download although there's no doubt they're continuing to work on GWE. Over on their website Steve's already said that the PIS component, which includes the platform displays, will be added at a later date. ATP is another component that Steve's said is not ready to release yet.37114 wrote:Hopefully they will have it sorted by Thursday

Re: TSW Great Western Express
Looks great and looks to be plenty to keep me occupied with this route, whether its driving or hopping on or off different services as a passenger etc.
