I see that GWE is available to predorder from JT's website - weirdly though, the recommended system specs on JT's page are way below what DTG states. Is this a typo, or do they have new info? (I did read somewhere, maybe facebook, that performance has been significantly enhanced for release).

Perhaps this explains why in pre-release shots of GWE you can see the 3D sleepers end about 60ft in front of the POV (hunt down the shot of Paddington station looking West off the platform ends as a good example).
Either way, if this is something that is optimisatable by DTG or in-game I welcome any performance enhancements that we get.

I find the LOD transitions on 3D track quite obtrusive. So it will be a little disappointing if such visible nips and tucks are proving necessary this early in TSW's lifecycle.

The viewpoint when a screen is taken can be zoomed with the mouse wheel. When this happens while the view is further down the line the original viewpoint remains the start of the LOD circumference. I noticed this taking screens in CSX. I don't recall sleeper LOD being obtrusive whilst driving.

Saw this 'in the flesh' at Old Oak Common open day today (on it's first public showing). Looks stunning, clear and sharp, but very clean. When I questioned the talker, he said
that it was because the companies (GWR in this case I guess) insisted their trains were clean. Doesn't account for the trackwork etc. though.
But still looking very good.
As an aside, when talking of TS2017, the talker referred to it as "TS1" not TS17.

What did performance seem like? Did you have a chance for hands on?

Yes TSW is known as "TS2", hence "TS2Prototype" as the executable name although maybe DTG have tidied that up since CSX HH.

No chance of a hands-on Sam.
For a start he was using an X-box type controller and I wouldn't know where to start with one of those -
I'm a keyboard and mouse man
Was very smooth though - even changing camera views, wandering about in the cab, etc.
Didn't notice any stutters or jerkiness at all.
Can't say what specs were of the pc was that was running it mind.
But my over-riding impression was (and still is) that's it's too clean (as I said above).

Maybe Network Rail wanted their tracks to be clean too

I thought that the man you refer to as "The Talker" was Matt Peddlesden?
Cheers,

Wasn't Matt, saw him outside having a stroll but not inside at the demo.
Don't know the talkers name, nice chap though.

Shame about no hands-on. Someone posted a brief youtube video
here and the computer specs are shown below. Seem pretty poky to me.

I noticed that while the player was walking through the train, at some point they fell through the bottom of the train and were walking on the tracks, through the train... Oops! Hope that that's gonna be fixed before release, or there'll be a lot of moaning!!

Maybe that's one of the obligatory bugs for which DTG can issue a super quick patch after release.
