Freeware Pack - Rosgar Scenarios - A Green Past the Greens

Post by nobkins »

The Rosgar team have generously donated a series of 5 scnearios with approx. 6 hours of driving time to the UKTS Freeware Pack project.

The pack has been uploaded to UKTS and is awaiting approval:

File ID: 32818 Date: 18 Aug 2014 - 1952 Downloads

It is also available on TrainSimDev.com to download with no restrictions via BitTorrent or standard Browser download.
We also give a full list of all the required DLC and Freeware items on TrainSimDev.com to make downloading and checking that you have all the requirements a little more straightforward.

The Rosgar scenarios are known for their realism and the number required items is quite high. However, for those with all the DLC and freeware items you are in for a real treat with this pack.

You are of course free to swap out missing rolling stock using RWTools (at your own risk of course).

Enjoy

Just a wee question on this, I take it that this pack of 5 is made up of previously released scenarios that Rosgar have made ?

None of these have appeared on UKTS before... Although the first two are available on the route builders sites.

I notice in the past few days that this file has been uploaded and removed at least twice and now removed again. Any reason for this? Also I notice that when I open the UKTS Freeware Pack updater and list all the packs it shows that I have not got it installed when it is,version 1.01.

The scenarios have not changed.
As they have a larger amount of requirements than many packs, and also due to being spread over five routes, it seems the database has not cross referenced the assets as it should.
Beyond that Nobkins will be better able to explain.... It will no doubt be back up soon.

I have adjusted a few items (not scenario related) to do with incorrect detection of required items (UK Wagon Pack and WCML over Shap) and the manual being installed to the wrong place:

Full download history is available here.
http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks ... eGreens#vh

I'm just investigating the reports of the updater not reporting the item is installed. Soon as I find something I will report here.

The download disappears and reappears every time an update is uploaded as it has to be re-approved by the site admins on UKTS.

The freeware pack updater failing to show the pack installed when it is has now been fixed. A problem with the data returned from the UKTS server about the packs available and version numbers was the cause (I configured the settings wrong for the new pack).

Sorry about that.

Not sure whats going on here, every time I try to download the latest version 1.0.2 my antivirus program "webroot" keeps blocking the download stating it has Malware attached "W32.Adware.Multplug" . Never had this occur with any other UKTS freeware addon that I have installed or the older versions 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 of this pack which I no longer have on file. Once I disabled my antivirus I was able to download and install . Moving this program to another HD made no difference for as soon as I turned on my antivirus again, which I have been using this for years and tried running the pack again, Webroot deleted it again. In the morning I'll do a full virus check on my TS2014 to see if it is infected as a quick scan revealed nothing.

So did you follow the advice here ====> http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=93716

I submitted it to my usual reference site and it came back clean.

I can assure you that to the best of my knowledge that is a false positive. On another site where the Freeware Packs are hosted which I manage all uploads are automatically scanned by around 50 different virus scanners.

Here is a link to the results:
http://www.trainsimdev.com/forum/downlo ... tive_tab=7

Full results here:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/f5c5 ... 398173108/

At the time of writing it has been scanned by 51 different AV software programs and returned 0 positive results.

Nothing is ever guaranteed but that is about as good as you can get.

Sometimes AV software can block files because they are new and the on-line database which it communicates with is not familiar with the program (because you are one of the first to download and install it). I have seen this before with new freeware packs.

Thank you both John & Jim, no I hadn't seen the thread on concerning this sort of occurrence.Interesting readings. As I mentioned further up in one of my posts I did manage to install the scenarios into TS2014, it is also showing as such in the UKTS updater and have run the first scenario no problems there. The only thing now is that as soon as I select the Installer for it my copy of Webroot keeps deleting the whole file. Running a virus check at the moment on my TS2014 which I'm sure will come up clear. Is there anyone else in the community who is using Webroot and have the same issues ?

As anticipated, no issues were found with the scan.

I was able to download and install the latest v1.03 of this pack

I was able to download and install the latest v1.03 of this pack without having to disable my Anti-Virus program ,just out of interest what was changed to the installer that enabled the download and install process to be accepted by the anti-virus and not be quarantined or deleted ?

Very very little. Certainly nothing was done to fix the issue you reported as there was no virus in the program. As it was recompiled the code would be different so if the false positive is likely to have been fixed because of it being re-compiled.

The changes were very minor:
  • Corrected problem with compiler (one of the file paths the installer users was not what I normally set it to. Did not cause a problem but for consistency I set it to my normal path)
  • Corrected link to wrong Class 101 in required items (I was linking to the wrong 101. I needed to link to the original (no longer available) 101)
Glad it fixed your issue as well.
