GEML London - Ipswitch vanished.

Post by qaaya3 »

I've edited scenarios before using RW_Tools on GEML London-Ipswitch, changing Blue and white 90s to the new white Abellio scheme in bulk etc. Now GEML London - Ipswitch is not listed in my routes list in RW_Tools at all! I can see every other route I have, free and paid. I've checked and there are no relevant .ap files that haven't been unpacked. GEML London to Ipswitch does show in TS2016 and I can play the scenarios which include those I changed to new colour schemes etc. Am I missing something? Can anyone please help. Thanks!

With the most recent update of the GEML it was packaged into an AP file so that might be the issue.

In this case, Steam sent out a new file RailWorks\Content\Routes\00000038-0000-0000-0000-000000002013\MainContent.ap a few months ago. When this happens you will need to unpack it again, even if RW_Tools displays it in black in the list of .ap files. You can check the Scenery sub-folder for this route and I think you will find it is empty, so RW_Tools will not be able to work with it until the .ap is unpacked.

That was the issue, despite the maincontent.ap showing as already unpacked in the 'find all .ap files' function. Thanks both, thread can be locked.

If you want to edit the scenarios with RW Tools, unpacking the whole route .ap file is unnecessary and defeats the reason for the introduction the .ap file. You only need to extract Routeproperties.xml and the Scenarios folder.

If you want to use rolling stock packed in .ap files you only need to extract the .bin file of the item so that RW Tools can see them - you can delete those bin files once you have finished editing the scenarios.

Remember that you will need to make any extracted files Read/Write - if you don't RW Tools still can't see them.

RW_Tools has buttons to just extract the RouteProperties.xml and the Scenarios from .ap files - if these options are used, then there is no need to make the files read/write, RW_Tools does this automatically.

In the case of extracting locomotive .bin files, there would be no benefit in deleting the .bin files after extracting them, the program seems to run just as well whether the .ap files are packed or not.
