Deleting Multiple Scenario Files and Scenarios with no Title

Post by peterfhayes »

Mike
Under the Edit Scenarios tab there is a function that says "Delete Selected Scenario(s).
Which to me implies that you can select several scenarios and delete them all at once???
However if you choose multiple scenarios (usually WS) to delete only the first one chosen is deleted.
Is this what is expected to happen? Should you be able to delete multiple scenarios at once or only one at a time?

Also as soon as you delete a scenario from a route you are immediately taken back to the first scenario title (ie top of the list) under that route - which means to have to re-navigate back to the next scenario to delete. (Note: this does not happen in the new feature "Make selected scenarios Standard" and in that case you stay where you are in the scenario list.) If you have along list of scenarios it can become quite tedious re-navigating to the next one to delete. Any chance of a "FIX".

I have a couple of WS scenarios that do not have a "Scenario Name" (ie that is blank), but they have part of that name in the "Folder Name" and some/rest of the name is in "Size". Unfortunately, RW_Tools cannot delete such files, and even though you can delete them in Windows their incorrect entry is NOT deleted from RW_Tools, ie the entry still stays and you can still "edit" the scenario even though it has been deleted from the route via windows. Any ideas?
Many thanks for a great app!

Hi Peter,

1. You are correct, the 'Delete Selected Scenario(s)' on the Edit Scenarios screen was bugged and only deleted the first entry. However, if you had gone to the Check Routes and Scenarios screen and used the Delete Scenario(s) button there, you would have found that one worked. (Must have been a deliberate mistake to see who would report the bugs :-) ).

I have now fixed it and it will be in the next update.

2. Your 2nd query - can you send me a copy of the scenario you can't delete? I tried removing the name of a scenario here - was named 'Tynemouth' in North East Rails, and it then appeared correctly in the scenario with just a blank as the name followed by the HEX code for the folder name and the size in the size column. Deleting it worked correctly.

Hi Mike
Thanks for your replies.
I have now deleted all of these corrupt title scenarios using the "invalid scenario" button - that works really well. So I can't give you a screenshot.
It's a REALLY weird corruption, for example, you can have as many as 20+ scenario titles (Only WS so far) occupying the single top scenario name under a particular route.
(Note: The invalid scenario button shows all the scenario titles occupying that top spot in the scenario list.)
You can then delete each one "x" times using the delete button in RW Tools, and they will eventually be deleted - but fortunately the "invalid scenario" button does it all in one go.
I had thought that the delete button in RW-Tools was not working - but it was - it was deleting one of the corrupt titles and obviously leaving the others behind. I hadn't realized that more than one title could occupy the same spot.
Opening each one in the RW_T editor showed them to have different scenario names, although they were only occupying just one position (top) in the scenarios listed under a route.
This looks like a WS scenario title corruption that causes this, and is absolutely nothing to do with RW_Tools which works perfectly in removing them.

Thanks again - appreciate the time.
