I'm working on a scenario for the WCML Over Shap route. This will be the first complete scenario (i.e., with AI trains) that I make. The scenario is based on the 2H84 Leeds to Heysham service, starting at Lancaster.

I'm using the current working timetable from the Network Rail web site to help me with adding AI trains, and I need help with adding a freight AI service. The only service that I found that would run around the time my scenario begins is 4S78 (timetable CZ03). The timing load referenced is 75-TR40. I know 75 is the maximum speed for this service, but TR40 can refer to any locomotives in section CZ. I also don't know what type of goods wagons, and how many, would be used for this service. Can anyone please help?

I must assume that you have diverted 4S78 from it's normal route over the Settle & Carlisle Line. It is an empty EWS coal service, so you would expect a Class 66 on the front of some HTA bogie hoppers. http://www.railwaymedia.co.uk/Locos/66-0/i-QKZgBhv/A Shows a similar service with 21 hoppers in the rake.

Thank you for your reply. I found 4S78 (11:38 Walton Old Jn Yard - Ravenstruther) on page 23 of timetable CZ03. It's scheduled to pass through Lancaster at 12:30. However, there is another 4S78 service in that timetable. Maybe what I want to use is a scheduled diversion?

Ah, ok, I hadn't spotted the 2nd much later service using the 4S78 headcode. In that case, it is a Freightliner HeavyHaul service, with a Class 66 up front. The wagons would most likely be HHA bogie hoppers.

Also, rather than me coming here all the time and re-asking the same question, is there a way I can find out what these freight services use (i.e., locomotive type, wagon type, number of wagons)? Is there something available for passenger services as well, so I know which TOC provides the service and the number of vehicles in the consist? I'm not a British-based train spotter, so I apologize for the daft questions!

I would imagine that it would be around the 21 wagon mark too. I don't really have much interest in the current railway scene in the UK, so I just found out these things by Googling. Don't be afraid to ask though, that's what forums are for.
