Scenario Chaining.

Post by 220389 »

Just a very quick although basic guide to allow scenario chaining to work.

Firstly make sure two scenarios are of course created, can be in any state of work or anything and can be from any route and train.

My example is from a scenario that is WIP for London To Faversham named at the moment. TT1 T1 (Part 1) and TT1 T12 (Part 2) When Part 1 is completed it will automaticly load into Part 2 scenario which will involve taking a A4 Pacific towards Ebbsfleet.

Image
Showing both scenarios at least created ingame.

When in game for the last objectives you have to do. At the bottom of the timetable screen, make sure the box next to the wave length style icon is selected, into that box you enter into the scenario hex? code that will point the game towards the scenario title ingame. You have to at least make sure it is inputted into the last task and the destination box (At least i had to, so it would work)

Image
As a example the part 2 scenario is the highlighted one, being the second from the top and the part one scenario being

End of Part 1 scenario - Notice top right mentioning changing scenarios.

Part 2 scenario loaded automaticly being named TT1 T12.

Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?

Thanks for that, the RSC manual approach to a guide which said....

"In TS2014 it is possible for one scenario to 'chain' or link in to another. So that when you complete the first part, the second part is loaded. This is an automatic process but involves a loading phase."

...was weirdly, not quite informative enough for me. It certainly helps in light of the fact that I no longer have the information appear if I hover my mouse over any of the boxes in the world or scenario editor too.

Cheers for this.

Useful for activities that would be otherwise too long.. or have stops at points that would be tedious for the player to sit and wait at.
I don't think i'd use it for ones where you change locos, or do a return trip as I personally wouldn't do a two parter like that in one sitting.. depends though.

Most welcome David & Deltic.

For the scenario im doing, im using it as when you change ends you have no controls at all sadly.
I will be using it for the 90 scenarios i have up, which will then be updated to include the new section of WCML as well.

Well I'm currently doing a multi part railtour scenario. I don't want all of the parts to load up concurrently but I think parts 2 and 3 for example and parts 4-6 lend themselves utilising this.

In other news I have my tips back when hovering the mouse, it was an option I had edited in the playerconfig file that caused the issue.

How do you find out the Scenario Chain number for Part 2 of the scenario? I've made two scenarios just need to get it linked.

The way i do it is by using RW-Tools. By using the Edit Scenario option then go to the folder in question via the Content and Route folder, then just copy the title of the scenario you want to link towards.

220389.

Many thanks for this info. I am working on a 2 hr scenario that I decided to split into two and your method works a treat. The TS 14 manual is very vague on the subject to say the least!!!

Cheers. John.

I might have done this wrong but I can't get it to work on my career activities. Maybe it just doesn't work for them? I shall have to double check.

I haven't tried it with career scenarios, so i wouldn't have i clue. I imagine it may not due to the scoring.
