Time Acceleration
Hello,
Does anyone know how you can use the time acceleration feature now that we no longer have the tick boxes in the start-up menu tabs? With TS2013 it launches the game straight off and I cannot see an option to enable it within the normal game option screens.
This was a really handy feature for scenario creation and I'm sure it is still there somewhere (launch option/command line perhaps?). You can save a lot of time with it, especially when making small changes down the line on a long scenario!

Re: Time Acceleration
A shortcut with this in the target box (correcting for your path to Railworks.exe) should do the job.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\RailWorks.exe" EnableAsyncKeys
You only need a single gap after .exe" and no hyphen.
Someone pointed out a link to this on another forum.

Re: Time Acceleration
time acceleration? How it's work? I never seen such thing in game, just at scenario simulation, which usually not gives the same result as the real gameplay will.
Re: Time Acceleration
Thanks Mark, that was a big help, it worked perfectly. While on this subject, I don't suppose you know the target box shortcut for limiting frames per second do you? There use to be a tick box for 30 fps, 60 etc.

At best. At worst it will corrupt your scenario. I do not use it.shanyiqua wrote:time acceleration? How it's work? I never seen such thing in game, just at scenario simulation, which usually not gives the same result as the real gameplay will.
The value of your investments may go up as well as down.
Re: Time Acceleration
-FPSLimit=30 or whatever sensible number you choose. You can activate this command alongside the one before. Just leave a single space before addding the second command.

Re: Time Acceleration
Thanks once again Mark - very helpful indeed!
It has never corrupted anything for me and makes testing certain scenarios much quicker, rather than driving hour long scenarios in real time just to test a slight change to an AI train or something near the very end. It is best to only do it on long stretches while you are cruising at line speed, as controlling the train can be a little difficult at x5 normal speed when you need to brake for speed limit changes or station stops! If you do start using it, do not get into the habit of using it regularly while driving. Your patience will reduce and you will find yourself using it more and more. Keep it for scenario testing.

I don't think you guys have tried it. I am not talking about the 'fast forward' buttons in the editor. With the above 'EnableAsyncKeys' enabled, you can press SHIFT + 2 to 5 to accelerate time during actual driving/gameplay. SHIFT + 2 for example will give time acceleration of double real time (x2), so 1 real minute will be 30 seconds in game etc. SHIFT + 1 will return you to normal speed/time.At best. At worst it will corrupt your scenario. I do not use it.

Re: Time Acceleration
I can't see to get the "enable async keys" to work. I have created the shortcut as suggested and can open Railworks from it. However pressing shift+2-5 has no effect whatsoever when running a scenario (other than whatever it is that the numeric key is supposed to do anyway on it's own).
Am I missing something obvious here?
Thanks

Re: Time Acceleration
It is working fine for me. Providing you have enabled it correctly in the target box ('set launch options' on steam) as previously posted by Mark, then it should work. Also ensure that you are pressing the numbers along the top of the keyboard - I don't think it works with the numbers on the keypad. Try LEFT SHIFT + 1-5.

Re: Time Acceleration
Chaps,
It's Ctrl+Shift+1/2/3/4/5 you're after, not just Shift on its own.
Works just fine in TS2013.

Re: Time Acceleration
That was my fault for forgetting about CTRL. I just do it naturally in-game and it must have escaped my memory when typing it up on the forum!
Well spotted JB.

Re: Time Acceleration
I've started dabbling in activity/scenario creation, the first time i've ever done anything creative in RW (Usually just pick up and drive). I've been figuring it out as I go through trial and error and have been using the buttons in the bottom right to test Ai and movements, how does it corrupt scenarios? I've not had any problems yet but I worry that I will now you say this!
Cheers

Re: Time Acceleration
David (spikeyorks) you need to press Shift+Ctrl 1-5 to get EnableAsyncKeys work.

Re: Time Acceleration
Thanks Mark and JB. It works a treat now...............although it scares the life out of me going around the bends on IOW Network at 4x speed !!!
To be honest I don't know why I didn't try this before as it will be a godsend in scenario creation.
Thanks again

Re: Time Acceleration
The last time I tried it, it moved the starting positions of all of my consists! That was just after Woodhead was released.DavidVI wrote:how does it corrupt scenarios?
