Blueprint error

Hi folks,

Trying to set up an engine blueprint - I have a bogie blueprint and couplings+blueprint in place already. The model has been exported OK several times but so far has only shown up in the Preview screen as a scenery item - not as a rail vehicle. As a rail vehicle, the screen is blank but is offering the gadget to place coupling positions and driver. I've been through and corrected a couple of clumsy errors in the model and the bogie blueprint ( such as axle position from centre set same as wheelbase :oops: )

I've started getting this error;

Data at the root level is invalid. Line 2, position 1.

I've no idea what this means or where to look for my latest blunder....... Any advice welcomed!

Edit... PS, the .igs file imports back into 3DC OK, with the same origin

Cheers

John

This would have to do with the .xml file itself, either it's caused by the engine blueprint itself or one of the child blueprints (bogies/couplers etc.). Googling the error brings up results for badly formed .xml files, so it sounds as if this is a compiler notification of an error in line 2 of the .xml in question. Is that all that was given in the message? Did it come with an error code or other information? At first I'd be inclined to say that you should check the integrity of the other .xml's included in the build. Load and attempt to export each one individually, if one of them gives the error then that's the badly formed .xml . You will most likely have to delete and re-create the badly formed blueprint, that should sort the issue.

Hi Kev

Thanks - there was another part of the error;

"An exception occurred trying to add a file, or one of its dependencies, to the export list ..." ( followed by the path to the engine blueprint.xml)

Line 2 of the XML seems to be " - <cEngineBlueprint> " I'll try the others and delete/redo the engine bp. Wasn't sure whether this was a common 'newbie' mistake showing up or something out of my control :D . I've not had much experience with blueprints - it's only recently that I've managed to do anything with them without the PC freezing/crashing etc. Even now I get occasional 'high CPU usage' alerts for the editor when it's just sitting waiting on the toolbar ( WIn7) ...

Cheers
