Kelvin and all,

I have looked into this problem and found that it was an issue with the way the extended route .zip was integrated into the gateway. I can now confirm that all is well and auto download links will now work. People who had previously been sent an incorrect link have been sent a manual one.

Thanks for all the support.

I've just installed this from the library and it's fantastic, well done young man, it's a brilliant reproduction of the route from Cardiff to Birmingham New St.
My only question is that I appear to be missing the Station platform signs in the Worcester and Gloucester areas, are these on your ''to do'' list, or, have I missed something off the catalogue of wanted DLC and 3rd party routes, I thought I had everything installed that was required, the platform signs show up OK from Bromsgrove to Birmingham NS.

Cheerz. Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the feedback,

Yes, the platform signs are on a very very long 'to do' list. If all goes to plan with other updates and developments then they should be added in the new year.

Thanks

That's fine, Pete, thanks for your quick reply, I'll wait patiently until you get it all sorted. I was particularly impressed that you've built Gloucester up and even got the Rugby Stadium in at Kingsholme, having personally been there in the late 1980s, great stuff, you've done a brilliant job of everywhere, thanks for sharing it with us all.

Just wondering, the required DLC I don't at the minute have are these:

DTG South Wales Coastal (If Bristol-Swansea will work, then it doesn't count, but if I need the Bristol-Cardiff version, then it counts)
JT Chiltern Mainline
Thompson WCML-TV
JT Western Mainlines (PAD to PLY inc. Bicester) (missing the extensions)
JT Kyle of Lochalsh

What exactly will I miss by not having these assets?

Hi

Without south wales coastal basically you will miss all the track between Bristol and Bromsgrove. Also Bristol and Cardiff will not have any assets, You really need SWC for this route.

Chiltern Mainline
This in only for some bridge assets, lofts and buildings

WCMLTV
Track in the Brum area and some other assets and stock

Western Mainlines
Some scenery - mostly bridges

Kyle of Lochalash
Scenery - some loft fences and other bits but nothing massively important

Hope this helps

Interesting. Am I missing something obvious or is the route now payware?

It's your choice and i'm in no way criticising, but as the route utilises free community content are these creators aware that it's used in a route that has to be paid for?

No. The route is still free and Birmingham to Bristol including Worcester is free to download from https://xcroute.com/Download.

So why have I just paid £5.99 for it, to "xcroute.co.uk"?

I think I understand now. You can download the original route for free, but if you want a further extension and further updates you have to pay?

If so, the point about free community content still stands. As well as that, there is the not insignificant issue of WCML Trent Valley being used, which is explicitly forbidden from being used in a commercial route. Unless you have already addressed these points and permission has been granted.

Exactly Ash. Thomson Interactive have not been contacted for permission to use our WCML Trent Valley assets for this project. I have e-mailed Peter Mitchell today asking for an explanation. Calling a project "donationware" while charging money for it does not alter the fact that commercial gain is being made.

I love to see the wonderful creations that enthusiasts produce with our assets as long as they do not charge money for the end results or re-distribute any of our original files. If this type of behaviour continues we might need to tighten things up further.

Hi All - Quick question regarding this - route has installed/i'm able to drive OK, missing a few scenery items but not to worry... The main issue I have, is all the signals come up on the blueprint/map view as red 'X', and when I approach them, they all seem to have a red aspect. I am able to 'tab' through them, but this is literally every signal...

Any help appreciated!

My issue with this potentially great route is lack of workable speed setting s and signs
