What files are being modified?
I recently bought the WML and South Devon Extension from Just Trains. Unfortunately it is lacking the car stop markers that are often included in UK routes from DTG. With the help of cab ride and train spotting videos I set about to change this fact. I've managed to add HST and many of the 4-10 car stop signs at the major stations used by GWR and XC long distance trains but I want to know which files are modified so that I can back them up before a hotfix/update and (maybe) release a mod if that is allowed and there is interest.

Re: What files are being modified?
The files that have been edited will be in the ..\Content\Routes\<long string of numbers---GUID>\Scenery folder---look for the .bin files for the tiles showing the modified date of whenever you did the editing.
The problem is though, if any of the other scenery assets in any of those tiles are the subject of any official upgrade/update then re-installing your edited tiles removes the upgrade/update from those particular files/tiles.

Re: What files are being modified?
Is the **.bin file in the scenery folder the only file that is updated when you modify a section of scenery?
I assume the track is in Network/Track/ .... etc ?
If it's that simple then adding a section of track ( & terrain, scenery, etc) would just be a case of appending/updating just those modified .bin files to the existing route, given that overlap tiles would create some "last updated" issues, but the bulk of, say, a totally new section of track, could be added without interfering with the current version in situ?
Or is this just my naive beginners view ?

Re: What files are being modified?
Gary, do you think the following would work. Construct a basic scenario, then in the edit, do the Scenery modifications. On saving the scenario, the amendments will be saved in a set of Scenery tiles within the scenario. Archive this, so that it can be added to any other scenario folder (or even use it as a backup in the case of the developer issuing a scenery update) so will show in the scenario.gptech wrote:The files that have been edited will be in the ..\Content\Routes\<long string of numbers---GUID>\Scenery folder---look for the .bin files for the tiles showing the modified date of whenever you did the editing.

I read the thread and am interested in the scenery for scenarios

I want to add scenario specific scenery to help animate a incident in the scenario
brysonman46 if you edit the scenery in a scenario mode you are editing the scenario not the route scenery
This is important as I don't want the additional items to be retained by the route
The principle is the same as adding destination markers to the scenario
I was wondering how the two live side by side
Cheers Auscgu

In the scenario editor, you will see some icons in the top left corner. If you put the mouse pointer near each one, it gives you a name. The first row is the tool box: objects, linear objects, painting, scenario (this one should be highlighted). The next row contains various actions. Then 2 rows for scenario specific actions. Below that is another box which contains stock and scenery tools. You will find ones for buildings, track infrastructure, bridges, characters, sounds, miscellaneous. These are the ones you need. Any items you place will be saved in a Scenery folder WITHIN THE SCENARIO FOLDER, and are not retained in the files for the route, only showing in the scenario. Any additional markers you set are held in the ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin

Re: What files are being modified?
Thanks Nick
Any items added in the scenario with the scenario tools are retained in the scenario folder
That makes sense and allows additional items relevant to a one of situation to be added
That is exactly what I am looking for, just had not see it explained
I will give it a whirl
Thanks Auscgu
