60' jointed track sounds.

Post by bristolian »

Good evening folks,

I'm hoping to be able to coax carriages modified to use the Steam Era sound pack to produce the 'clickety-click' along one single track of a double track stretch. In the real world, there was 1 mile of track on a Down line only using 60' panels, the rest of the Down line, and the Up lines etc used welded track.

What would be the easiest way to try this?. The track rule used doesn't seem to have that facility.

Thanks in advance.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

Using bullhead track instead of flatbottom rail track should give a jointed sound on that section. Alternatively, there should be an option to change the 'trackbed rumble' sound when placing track, at least with the old Kuju track rules.
Also there is a patch on steam sounds supreme to correct the track length on bullhead rail track, so that it is the correct standard 60' length for the purpose of the joint sounds.

Glorious Devon has jointed sounds and I think that uses the WSR track

Is it the track or the track rule that sets the sounds???

Sadly, I've been unable to find that patch.

Bob, it's the Road and Rail sound enhancement pack.
rkk01, It's partially the track rules but also there should be a setting to change the trackbed rumble sounds, although it may not be available on non default (just kuju now I guess) track.

Thank you, just purchased :).

With regard to editing the track rules, how (using RWTools) does one do so?.

Sadly that is something I don't think you can do. Although it would be something very useful to do, as I had to start with scratch a few months ago on my route due to track rule incompatibility

Certainly you can change track rule properties by editing their bin files with RW Tools. But to change the default track bed rumble sounds you have to edit the bin file of the tracks themselves. There is a section called BedRumbleSounds that points to the audio file.

The post here describes how track joint sounds are configured:
