Hi John these are very helpful indeed I'll give some signalling ago in the afternoon sometime with the use of these pics. Yes please do post some others more I get the better i will learn on using them. Chears for those.

Ian. :)
P.s just wondered when you set your signals up like you have there do they stay on red when you click on the play button or do yours go green like they are suppose to? As mine always seem to stay red as mentioned previously.

Most signals only clear when a train is expected. So to watch them clear, you need to place an engine with a driver icon on it somewhere in approach to the signal in question. It can be far in terms of metres, but there must not be switches without signals between the train and the signal.

Hi John,

Just thought id add this to your post re Swindon as you may be interested:-

SN 48/46/44 (signals at the west end of Platforms 1, 2(Bay) and 3 respectively),have no feathers on them as they all have stencil/theatre type route indicators added to them, which give the route indication toward the desired direction. For example, "B" would be shown for down branch, "UM" for Up main (Reversable) and "DM" for Down main. Signals SN71 and SN67 are similar at the east end of plat 1 and 3 respectively. Without checking Im not sure if these have changed with the re-doubling but this is how they were prior to it. If its something your working on, PM me and i'll see if I can help further!!

JV.

Hi JV

Thanks for the info. This must be a very recent change, as the photo I was referencing was taken in April of this year!

I know there is at least one DLC route with these kind of signals (ECML or GEML I think) but I'm trying to keep down the amount of pay-ware needed so I think I'll just have to stick with what I've got. Unless you know of any freeware signals of course!

Cheers,

John

Ian, here are some more.

First a moderately complex junction. This is Dr Day's Jn between Bristol Temple Meads and Lawrence Hill. The lines are the Filton Up and Dn which then diverge here into 4 tracks right towards Temple meads and two tracks left which form the Bristol Loop to the GWML.

There are four possible routes in this direction which are controlled by an F123 Junction signal.
Dr Day's Jn.jpg
This is a similar junction outside Bristol Parkway with an F12.
Parkway Signals.jpg
Finally these are the signals on the east side of Hereford. The are only two paths from this signal, as the mainline is up/down, which are onto the down line or into the bidirectional diesel sidings. A Ctrlsig 2T is used for all three signals on the gantry because the paths are exactly the same for each one.
Hereford Signals.jpg
As for the signals turning red, what JV stated below is also true in reality, in my experience.

Cheers for now!

Hi John good news I've got some signals working :D I've been doing a few tests today with my class 66 Freighliner with the feather signal (UKAsp SigHd_F4) and obviously when I click the play It went to red. I took the advice with another train in the distance I placed another 66 a lot further down the line so the signal can pick up a clear line from the distance of the other 66.
I did this test today went through the red light and crossed the junction that I've previously shown on my image on a past post, then reversed the class 66 and went back through the signal backwards and weirdly enough it turned to green and feather lit up so that shows the signal is working in the game but not the right way like it should be, any advice?
Chears, Ian. :)

In what way is it not working?

Sounds like you are getting there!

Cheers

It on seems to work backwards like I said on my last post when I 1st went through the red signal and then reversed my train it then went to green? It works wrong way round lol. I'll take try what markpullinger just said see if that makes a difference.

Hi ignore that last post I've now figured out the problem of what was going on I wasn't using a train engine on route and switched junctions in scenario, I was only using the play button while in world editor so after all that I made a huge error lol. Thanks for all them images John I'll keep returning and check them out when I get to large tracks as a guide.
One last question do the 2 asp sigs have amber in them or are they just red and green as I'm using these on the 4 track mainline like they are in real life and they turn to double amber?
Cheers, Ian :D

Hey Ian

I've replied to your PM.

2 asp signals are just red and green. I've only ever seen them used on single track in the Great Western area, but every route is different of course.

John
