Norfolk Lines

Post by fakenham1 »

Hi Guys,
Just thought I'd introduce you to a route I've been working on when I fancy a change from the Birmingham area route - the Norfolk Lines. At the moment the route runs from Norwich to Yarmouth via Reedham and Acle. There's a lot to do, but I thought I'd knock up a thread on order to keep you guys updated with some progress shots. Input very much welcome.
Here are a few shots for starters - a few lifted from the screenshots thread, also some new shots from the Reedham area.

Reedham...

Buckenham..

Cantley area...

Brundall distant signal..

Cheers guys. I'll try and get some more shots up when time permits...

I was absolutely gutted when a previously proposed Wherry lines route failed to materialize so would be absolutely delighted with this. I spent my early teenage years at Gt Yarmouth so this would be a dream come true, especially if you could possibly get the Reedham to Lowestoft branch in as well. A couple of years ago, I did make a start on a 1960s Yarmouth Southtown - Lowestoft - Beccles (and Yarmouth ST - Beccles (direct) with the Norwich - Lowestoft / Yarmouth Vauxhall branches as I thought this period of changeover from Steam and Gresleys to Class 31 and Mk 1s would be very interesting but I didn't get very far due to other time constraints.
Thankyou for your time spent so far on this. Malcolm

Thanks v much for the comments guys. Much appreciated.

Wills44422, the route currently runs from Norwich to Great Yarmouth via both Reedham and Acle (see map). I do plan to extend though.

Here are few shots from work done on Yarmouth....

Really like the new asset sizing tool - great for introducing more variety.

Cheers

Hi Fakenham1, got to tell you that you have made my day!! As mentioned in a previous post I along with many others I would assume was distraught when the Wherry Lines project fell by the wayside a couple of years ago. Not knowing anything about the creator of that route it wouldn't be right of me to make suggestions as to why that was but after seeing the dedication and care that was put into that project it baffles me as to why it wasn't then released? Maybe others know more but what a shame! It sadly put me off train simulator for a while as it was something I was really looking forward to.
Anyway I can only say that from the few shots you have released so far this looks more than a match! its looking suburb! Please don't let this one slip away, I don't think I could stand it again!! Thank you for taking on a project that I fully admit I wouldn't have the skill to do myself. If in time the Lowestoft and Sheringham branches get included as well then what could I say?

Thanks again for what looks like a cracking piece of work.

This really is stunning work with great attention to detail. The effect of short grass on the track using the resize tool is excellent.
I'm sure there are many of us who would like to see this released, are you intending to do so?
If so are you considering doing it in stages, such as Norwich - Yarmouth followed by subsequent updates as and when you are happy with them?
Poor Ian sounds like he is desperate for a return trip to Yarmouth! Me too! :D
Thanks for sharing your progress so far.
