Re: Bath - Templecombe... Workshop Route
I've got a book on it's way Bob http://www.amazon.co.uk/Historical-Surv ... 298&sr=1-1 it should be here over the next few days. It might have something about the speed limits of the line.
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

Many thanks for the offers of assistance, chaps. Mike, that's superb. Thanks!
I noticed the sectional appendix website wasn't around the other day but had assumed that it was something daft I was doing wrong. Looking on the bright side it says the site is under development, so hopefully it will be back soon. Fingers crossed.
Phil. You are a star!
Turns out I've got that book too, loll, it contains some really useful information. Having now looked through it, it seems I've got to re-do three sections of Bath, however...
Cheers
Bob

Re: Bath - Templecombe... Workshop Route
Hi Bob,
Up until the end of the 1950's most loco's and rolling stock on the S&D was Ex LMS from the end of the 1950's during summer some Southern Region loco's were drafted in mostly WC\BB loco's and some M7 tank loco's,other loco's that could be seen were Q1 and N\N1.
Summer could see coaching stock from ER, there was one train on a Saturday which ran from Cleethorpes to Exmouth, which was hauled as far as Bath by a B1 loco, that train was a mixture of Greseley and Thompson Coaches.,it joined the Southern West of England main line at Templecoombe Upper.
Trains with Southern stock would mostly be 3 car Bulleids or Maunsell Coaches,MK 1 started to be used after the Western Region took over, the first train to be all MK 1 was the Pines Express, even then the relief could be older stock,
The S&D was at it's busiest for the 6 weeks from the Middle of July to the first week in September,in the morning most trains were heading south in the afternoon they were heading north.
The First southbound train in 1961 summer was the ex 1O00 Kidsgrove to Bournemouth for the S&D part it was Hauled by 2 BR Standards 73031\75072,the last Northbound Holiday train was the Bournemouth-Nottingham and was hauled from Bournemouth by 40563 and 44422,from Bath it was hauled by a 16A Black 5 44768.

Hi
Some useful information there, Michael. Thanks for posting, and apologies for my late reply.
I did indeed, Mike - replied yesterday afternoon... I can't work out what's supposed to be happening through Midford to be honest and Bath Junction is a bit of a disappointment, as the trackwork will now comfortably accommodate 30mph, but the rest makes far more sense than the Kuju version.
Since I last posted I've done a fair bit of work. Lowered the Bath S&D shed. I don't think my incline is in quite the right place but I've nowhere else it can go.
Rebuilt Bath Junction so it's now in the right place.
I've tried really hard to get the tunnel portals to look realistic but the DEM is really unhelpful so I've had to resort to the occasional rock. Typically on the one portal where I could in theory get away with having nothing covering the top there's a large black square which appears on the terrain. No idea what is causing this as it appears whether or not the Tunnel Hole decal is in place and regardless of whether there's Tunnel track behind the terrain. Weird.
A long time was spent reforming the DEM around the southern end of Lyncombe Vale so the final bridge looks vaguely realistic. And then I covered the whole thing with as many trees as I could.

Another re-work of Tucking Mill viaduct and the surrounding area.

Almost finished Midford and I'm half way to Wellow with the distant scenery now.

Looking good Bob, just need to add the Camerton line under neath and a Lower quad GWR starter at Midford.............................................................
EDIT: had a thought about the black hole you mentioned is it not the Bath tunnel shadow decal? Maybe.

Re: Bath - Templecombe... Workshop Route
Ah i might be able to help with this. I Built Custom tunnels for my route which are scenery objects. When i tryed to placing the hole decals i had the same thing happen and would end up with a decal stuck that i couldn't get rid of.I've tried really hard to get the tunnel portals to look realistic but the DEM is really unhelpful so I've had to resort to the occasional rock. Typically on the one portal where I could in theory get away with having nothing covering the top there's a large black square which appears on the terrain. No idea what is causing this as it appears whether or not the Tunnel Hole decal is in place and regardless of whether there's Tunnel track behind the terrain. Weird.
What i had to do was lift my section of tunnel out the way and everything else out the way so i could drag a circle and pick up and delete the offending decal.
Then i had put the tunnel entrance on and do the decal with out the tunnel being there then lower the tunnel section back in after.
I hope you like working underground
Chris

Thanks.
Don't know about a lower quadrant! You get what you're given. Bog standard Kuju all the way. lol
Poor angle on the Midford shot I'm afraid (partly because the Camerton viaduct/bridge doesn't actually fit through the S&D viaduct arches, but it's there. Fear not! I wasn't planning on making it so it could be used, to be honest, although I suppose it'd only take a couple of minutes. There's still a bit of scenery work to be done on this side of the line too...

Doh! Just worked out that my mystery shadow is the occlusion box being slightly too long. Muppet!
Thanks for the suggestions though.
You know the decals are sometimes only possible to select from inside the tunnel, Chris? They can still often be very fiddly but at least eventually you'll manage to catch the blighters. And, no, I don't like working underground! I generally prefer to make a huge cutting and then put the top back on after I've finished.
Email received, Chris. Thanks very much indeed!
Cheers
Bob
[Edit - don't seem to be able to remove the shadow screenshot from my post! Not doing too well this evening!]
