Invisible assets!!

I am struggling with a mysterious problem (to me).
I have successfully downloaded a package into TS2014. By successful I mean that I have installed using the utilities, can see and select the provider in the RH fly-out and I was able to see and select the assets in the respective LH menus. But that is where success ends. When I select an item from this provider and I place it in my route all I get is the Gismo to position it and nothing else. An example is a loft item which when I place it is indicated by the yellow outline of the loft, but when I complete the action it all vanishes, but I can still select it to delete it.

(As a side issue which may be related - I have a problem in seeing the UKTS freeware textures assets in my menu even though I have ticked the boxes in the RH flyout - all other UKTS freeware packs work just fine)

I and another forum member have tried without success to understand this issue so now I am really looking for anyone who may throw a different light on this problem or who may have had similar issues. Any suggestions are most welcome.

With hope and thanks,
Sweep

Terrain textures are set in your route template in your assets folder. Have you created one? They are also defined in your route properties.xml file in your Content/route folder. Having them as a selectable option in the World Editor is a bit misleading. Invisible assets? Clear cache, close sim, restart sim, Voila! (Sometimes) :x

Thanks for the response Gary. You may have hit on the obvious problem which until now was presumed I had done correctly - too busy looking for other solutions.

I have really just started again in TS2014, after an enforced period away, so my skills and knowledge are somewhat rusty and have probably set off on the wrong foot without realising. To create my route I simply chose 'New Route' and selected one of my favourite routes as the base, but altered the origin to where I wanted it to be in the real world. This seemed to set me up with all I wanted but I am now thinking after your comment that this may be a simple way to create a route but not necessarily the best. If this is the case then starting again may be a bit of a chore but at least it would not be too disastrous. Can someone kindly confirm if I have made a fundamental mistake at the outset as up until this invisible asset problem all seemed ok?

Many thanks,
Sweep

Could it be your Scenery Density setting is too low? From your main menu, select Settings - Graphics - Advanced, and ensure Scenery Density is at 10. Otherwise it might be culling the scenery objects.

Thanks for that - my setting is already at 10 - so I know it is not that. From my previous post I am beginning to suspect that I have inadvertently set the route up wrong but could do with someone confirming my fears. Starting again won't be too much of a big issue as I have already learned so much from this foray and will have the chance to go about some things differently.
