Hello,
Now that google-earth integration is great I thought to just give routebuilding a try.
I created a new route, went to the terrain tools, pressed control-g and there it is, google-earth data.
But blurred, not yet really usable. Looking at google-earth i can actually count the sleepers in that area where in the world editor I can hardly find the rails.
What did I do wrong ?
I hope you excuse my dutch school english guys....
Thx
Albert

Re: Google Earth High Res
You will need to set up the google earth settings to a greater resolution in the Railworks graphics settings menu. Some systems will work better than others, so you will have to experiment on how many tiles you are displaying, what resolution the mapping should be. Best to find a simple route that starts up quick, start at the bottom and work up.
One pointer to everyone, you WILL find areas that display large black areas. There are 2 reasons for this, firstly the map for whatever reason has not loaded in. Too high graphics settings displaying a GE area with low quality imagery is one reason. Lowering the settings will fix this. Other reasons may be it just didnt pick up that area, or the imagery area is set too low for the terrain. Try either scrolling away and see if the map tile appears, or lift the imagery overlay up a bit and see if it appears.

Also adjust the ZOOM level. Higher zoom gives more detail but some zoom settings are too high and do not work (I found).
Also make sure you get an API key or Google will prevent you from downloading any further images for 24 hours (as you have exceeded the anonymous usage allowed).
With an API key you get 25,000 images a day.
Do get an API key google for "Google Maps API Key"

Thank you, works OK.
Now struggling with the coordinate. want to start 4 degrees East, Always end somewhere in the UK, so some degrees West.
But again thanks

Go to the Google Maps website. Right click on where you want to start, in the menu there should be 'Drop Lat Lng Marker'. Select that option and you should get two numbers.
Put these two numbers (latitude and longitude) when you create your map and you should be in the correct location.
