Door openings
Hello all,
How does one go about allowing door opening at stations which you have placed yourself? I never got a manual with the simulator so am working out the route editor by trial and error. But, I can't work this, probably quite easily solved, problem out.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi
As long as you've got a Platform Marker on the track in the correct location for the platform loft (i.e. next to it!) then you should be sorted. Under the Signal icon in the top left hand flyout, they're under M for Markers.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Re: Door openings
Many thanks for your help. I've just looked and there are platform markers in place. When I clicked on these there was an unticked box at the top of the flyout menu on the right hand side. So I ticked it to see if it had any effect. Unfortunately not and the doors still don't open. Is there anything else I need to do with the platform markers?
Re: Door openings
Hi
Check exactly which sort of platform you've laid. And make sure it's a realistic height and distance from the track and then everything should just work.
If you've a Marker but no platform, or vice versa, then nothing will happen. Just in case that's what the problem is.

Re: Door openings
Couple of other points;
1. Make sure the platform loft is of a type that spawns passengers - you can tell if this is the case by seeing if there are small yellow spheres placed periodically along the platform length in the editor
2. If the platform type is an "L" type (e.g. Platform UK01 5m L) make sure that the loft is the right way round relative to the track (i.e. with the platform edging slabs immediately adjacent to the relevant track).

Re: Door openings
Thanks for your replies. This seems to be more complex than I thought. I've basically been using some RSC station templates so the platforms don't sit absolutely perfectly to the track layout. Maybe this is the problem. Not sure how to get those other yellow dot markers onto the stations that you describe if the platforms don't have them. I'll keep trying.

Re: Door openings
If the platforms dont have the yellow Markers then add them using the Loft menu the top right icon of the platform, and use something likes 5m 00's inv, which roughly translated 5m wide platform Year 2000's, invisible paltform, which will give just the people, if layed corectly over the top of the platform you will see a semi translucent grid texture.

Re: Door openings
Sorry to be a pain, but I really can't find the loft option you speak of on the right hand side. When I click on the platforms, the right hand side fly out box just shows x,y, z coordinates, height (terrain), detail level and object name?

Door openings
Select the track using the dashed box section, then use the offset function (4m for a 5m platform), flip the relevant arrows over, select your platform from the loft menu, click on the arrow. Then select all sections of the platform and raise to height with v key

Re: Door openings
Hate to admit it, but Ive forgotten how to reverse the loft arrow/s to lay a platform so the correct edge is against the track.
Thanks John
Thanks John
Re: Door openings
Just click on the yellow arrows, before you select the particular platform asset you're going to use, and they'll swap orientation.

Re: Door openings
Thanks Bob, after a while I realised, with your advice, it was a click and a "swish", really had been bugging me that I forgot it so soon after LMR.

Re: Door openings
Hi Bob & Ben
Just picked up this thread. For a while I have been somewhat annoyed that the "L" platforms are created with the edge on the wrong side. However, I have tried in vain to click the arrow to change the orientation for the L platform. Still getting it on the wrong side. Is there a "hot key"? Another problem that has recently arisen (OK up to last week), is that after raising the platform created using the offset tool, sometime passengers are spawned on the ground, rather that on the platform (not always - weird). Can one raise the spawn points? I mostly use 50s platforms (steam buff), and recently the male passengers have disappeared! I am left with the brunette with the grey business suit. I have fond memories of the 50s, but none of them are of such outfits! I plan to do change her wardrobe later!
best regards
Nick

Re: Door openings
The passengers on the ground thing is where you have lowerd ramps at the ends, what you need to do now is slpit the ramps from the platform - both ends, then a thick white line will appear on the join, now the passengers should be on the platform. However saying that you may find some passengers walking mid air over the ramp areas, exit the scenario and re-enter and they usually disappear if not relay the dropped section of platform with a loft with NP at the end (no Passengers) and all will be well, according to my Br track layouts and dimensions book, ramps should be at a minimum of 10 in 1 slope.

Re: Door openings
Many thanks for that tip. I had started using the gradient tool to mark the end portion for the ramp, rather than the split tool (as previously). My ladies are now showing off their shoes! I was fortuitously getting the slope angle correct, by splitting the length at twice the distance between 2 yellow spheres. Now I need to sort out that Left Platform trick.
