First of all, Happy New Year to one & all . Secondly, I do not intend to hijack this thread started by Tom - merely to broaden it. As regards 3d modelling, as I said before it has been over 20 years since I did any (using Polyflow on Silicon Graphics computers to produce wire frame models of valves and pipes through which complex fluids had to flow). I have obtained Blender3D, and am getting to grips with all that it involves. So far, just produced some flat concrete blocks for use as road decks on bridges (as done by Keith Moss in WLOS). Early days.
Posting images is not as easy as I thought, so will go away now, learn how to do it (seek advice from grandson!), and repost later today with some.

Watson Road (more correctly lane) and St Annes Road cross under this bridge, with Marton Drive joining at an angle. This is a few hundred yards SE of South station at the start of the Marton Line.

On the Coast Line, just past the Pleasure Beach. Have done a "kit bash" (as known to model railway fans) using bits of bridges and pylons to represent the Big Dipper, etc. Will construct a proper structure later.

On the extreme left is the Tram Depot (the Barn) - Tom's office? - In the Centre rear are 2 of the Gasholders being supplied by Marton Gasworks (before the North Sea reserves were found). At the right is the turntable for Central MPD and Spen Dyke SB. The electricity works is in the background. (Not all of these may come out in the snapshot shown).

Some great golf courses by the side of the line. Have still to put in the flags on the green, and the golfers in their tartan trousers, but the decal of the course seems to have come out well.

Nice screenshots but a bit oversized. Maximum width on the forums is supposed to be 800 pixels. I did try to convert them into links but failed miserably so it will have to wait for one of the other moderators to do it.

The two lines from Kirkham & Wesham to Blackpool Central (Coast and Marton Lines) are now complete (apart from signals/telephone wires), and I am about to start work on K&W to Preston. I still need to construct several buildings/structures which, at the moment, have bits of default items to denote them, but having some problems with Blender.
To give interested readers some insight into what I am hoping to achieve, I show some real photos and the corresponding WIP below.
This is Blackpool Central Station in the late 1950s.

The main platforms (1 to 6) are on the right, whilst the excursion platforms (7 to 14, uncovered) are on the right. When it was closed in 1964, this was the largest station in the UK to be closed (Beeching wanted to close Blackpool North, and keep Central, but the local council persuaded the BRB to close Central so they could acquire the land).
This is how it looks on my route, so far.

Moving on, we see the station throat, council amenities, the main Loco Shed (24E) and the first of 3 large carriage sidings.

Again, I have tried to capture the elements of this.

Beyond Bloomfield Road (home of Blackpool FC) there were 2 more large carriage sidings and also servicing facilities for the excursion locomotives. The view here is from South Station, the junction of the Marton and Coast lines.

Finally, in preparation for future scenarios, we see the results of an excursion arriving from one of the Lancashire Mill Towns in the 1950s. I hope to produce passengers that look like this (rather than the brunette in the grey business suit)!
