Ruth, I'm very impressed with your explanation, I think Ive just learned more in 5 mins than in 5 years ! thanks for that explanation.

But - being a person from an industry who has never excepted no or it cannot be done - what about this - dont "join" two routes together, "lay" them side by side first, with a blank bit down the middle and then fill that in once the two are joined.

I give an example, the Portsmouth route, one of the blank scenery parts track goes to Redhill. I would love to join this to the Brighton Scenery.

Redhill is the only bit need to be joined, as the Brighton Scenery is already detailed,, if you chopped off that bit from Portsmouth, combined the two side by side with maybe a scale 1000 mtrs between and then once joined, create new track and scenery between the two editions. That way you are not expecting the two to match, you do that once the two are together.

As for memory and slow pc's I've watched the programme RW itself on a second screen for years now, watching it "call" scenery as it is needed, RW does not seem to load the whole lot in one go, certainly its checks for all the assets its going to use, that delays the start time.

Just a thought, I too would love to join sceneries together, particually the two Ive just given as examples.

Cheers, brain hurts !
