You have to remember people do not get paid for their efforts and is a hobby. Many things change in life and there are countless reasons why a route may not make it out at all. Be thankful for what gets released and enjoy it.

One of the reasons why I seldom post here anymore is what I see as an increasing tendency towards a "vampiric" relationship between creators and users, where the latter thinks it's acceptable to "feed" on the former. This thread contains elements of this phenomenon, which doesn't really exist in the real world (because we often have to deal with each other on a face-to-face level and are therefore generally polite and understanding) but appears to be all too prevalent in the anonymous, virtual world, where rudeness can often be seen. This attitude seems to be aimed towards both "professional" outfits such as RSC and individual creators alike, and in my view is both unrealistic and unacceptable.

Issue : someone decides to build an extension to a route which will be very popular. They do this in their own time, with no expectation of reward other than self-fulfillment and perhaps the praise of others if it turns out OK. Their efforts cause hope, which is turned into expectation, which often leads to demands, which often leads to anger or selfish disappointment when these are not fulfilled.

Jivebunny need answer to no-one. I'm sure that he needs no-one to tell him what to do, however well-intentioned. His aims, expectations and deadlines are only those that he chooses to set for himself.

Where's the problem? Please show a little goodwill guys...

Well said Ash! Freeware projects are not and cannot be a priority, with life itself being No.1. My freeware project WILL be finished. I'm obligated to, in a sense, because I've received help from the community. But JB, as far as I know, is working alone on this mammoth project. So, he is obligated to no-one!!!

I agree with this, I had doubts about advertising my latest project because the scale of the route is very large and it will be a long time before i consider releasing it, but in the end i decided to post a thread so that people like me can enjoy viewing progress.

I say that the users who take part in this "vampiric" behaviour should consider that their pushyness only makes the creator feel more exhausted than they would if they were just left to get on with it as it suits them. You're basically saying "Times ticking, cobwebs are forming, come on, think of all the scenery you need to hurry". I think that's where most route builders initially throw in the towel until they rekindle their own passion and ambition / how they was before they became an asset to the community.

Hence why i said i had doubts about posting my project, because it's something i've personally wanted to have in a simulator since MSTS and every time i have posted progress threads in the past, i get people commenting after about two months asking how its going because nothing has been posted for a long time.

You've kind of got to see it from the creators point of view and remember that if you don't show them respect it's never going to get finished, i.e never remind them how long its taking them to build, i'm sure many of the mature users on here will agree that time is not something we like to discuss in our spare moments

sorry for the earlier spelling mistake, what my comment should of ended with is * People seem to want a rolling news channel, why do people as has been mentions seem to demand routes be released! to be fair this is a free project, with a creator who seems to care about attention to detail and keeping everyone happy, by making things like the 373 Eurostar, he doesn't have to do this but he does it because he wants realism for us users! RESPECT Jivebunny its totally unfair that he has had patience with this route for 2 years, yet we cannot hold ours for 5 seconds! that's all I have to say on the matter.

OK to clarify the reasons for the post - as has been noted Jives route is freeware and a hobby, no problems with that at all.
My observation is that this is much publicised with a view to release and all there are are pictures.
Other routes are clealy being built but the authors are (wisely??) saying nothing either because it's not going to be relased or because it's a long way off.
Perhaps this is a case of Mid East Plus syndrome.
Shoot me some more it you like - i have just ventured an observation

Coming from a route builder, the reason why I don't say that much regarding progress of the route is because I like to bunch up all my progress updates together at once. You get 1 large chunk every so often opposed to small snippets every 14 milliseconds.
