Its funny but when placing them i did not pay much attention to what they looked like up close. Only after taking the snap did i realise how well textured some of SAD's work is. Even better that they are now part of Jim's freeware packs. Certainly gives you tons of variation whilst routebuilding.

Thanks for the comments gents. Always appreciated

Steve,
That's it! If you show me anymore screenshots I'm going to have to kill myself. Just release the route, please?
Seriously, the shots are very good, I am well impressed, full of atmosphere and looking really authentic. Good work, any timescale in place for completion so we can all play with it?

Regards, John.

You might have to wait a little longer before its ready for release :D I started the route 7th April meaning its a grand 18 days old so far. Given i work as a full time scafolder, getting to work on the route can be sporadic. I'm not quite sure how far i'm taking the route before release or even which line yet. With the origional idea being a shunting/trip working route in and around Bolton i did not intend huge mileage. I did however intend from the start to give a detailed drivers eye view, something intersting to drive at low speeds whilst keeping frames high as possible not detailing what cant be seen from just above an engine. I'd like to include some of the collieries of the area to give variety to scenarios and have yet to try my hand at open areas yet.

Anyway, bare with me and turn a blind eye to any pictures i post. I very much appreciate your interest in the project

Some nice use of Photoshop, Steve.

Meanwhile, 70044 "Earl Haigh" builds up steam outside the newly reinstated  Dumfries shed.

I don't know why but my screen captures are often very dark. I add a little brightness and sometimes add a touch of coloured hue. Its amazing how detailed some of these locos are and certainly capture the prototype so well, its a shame to leave it hidden in my screenshots. There are without doubt some incredible 3D modellers texture artists out there. This hobby just seems to be improving constantly for which i am very grateful.

Lovely shot of the Earl too, hope to see more...

Good stuff, guys!

Here's a few more taken on John Griffiths' excellent freeware S&C.

With Wild Boar Fell looming in the background, a rare break in the overcast highlights 8F 48111 as it slogs its way up to Ais Gill summit with a coal train.

As the weather turns, we catch Standard 9F no 92161 with a fast freight.
