My 1964 Observer's book says that it was Class 4: Parcels, newspaper, fish, meat, fruit, milk, horse-box, cattle or perishable goods train composed of vacuum-braked stock with the brake-pipe attached to the engine. Also express freight train, livestock, perishable or ballast train with not less than one third of the vacuum-braked vehicles connected to the engine.
The code, looking towards the smokebox, is for the central and left-hand brackets to be occupied.

Ash its based on the LNWR section within Bolton. Starting at Great Moor Street the idea is to have a high detail slow shunting route. There are many industries and yards served by this line so plenty to do. Aiming to keep FPS as high as i can, anything you can't see from just above the cab is not modelled so no vast sprawling Bolton i'm afraid. Set in the mid to late 50's so as to have passenger trains still passing through even if just relief for Trinity Street. Not sure how far the route will go yet but at least to plodders lane shed and past daubhill on the other line.
I'll start a route thread when i have something worth showing if anyone is interested.

Bolton. Great location choice Steve. Almost endless scenario scope in a small area and the LNWR to boot.

Thanks Kirk. No, It's Eastfield Depot, outside of Glasgow Queen Street . I saw 4472 with no lining in a modellers magazine and thought why not try it. The final result is below:
