Sudan: Port Sudan to Gebeit/Jubait

While searching the Workshop for routes/scenarios in Australia and New Zealand, I chanced across 'East'. Quite how my search terms selected this, I have no idea... :-?

'East' is a 70-mile standard-gauge route from Port Sudan into the arid African interior, running west and south. It was uploaded to the Workshop four years ago (2018) by 'emad44444' so this may be old news to some. There is/was a real world prototype, traceable using Google Maps.

The route required no assets that I didn't already have; it seemed to be chiefly reliant on the Kuju/US asset base. There's only one Quick Drive scenario but it's not difficult to create a few Free Roams, using suitably dusty stock from Asia, Africa or the Americas. I'm using GE U20C's from Brazil.

Does anyone know any more about this route and/or its creator?

The real-life route would be 1067mm, not standard gauge. Seems to be only a very short portion of the real route (which apparently goes all the way to the capital Khartoum)

I agree about the gauge -that's why I flagged it. Four years ago, we had relatively few metre-ish gauge assets; it was not unusual for modellers to choose standard gauge to allow a wider choice of rolling stock.

And, yes, this is a very small fraction of the Sudanese railway network, But, nonetheless, a welcome contribution to the TS20xx portfolio, don't you think?

Here's what I use as suitably beaten up and dusty stock...photos taken on a different route (Njandoul - Linguere).
