Consists created in the Quick Drive editing section of the game are, like Custom Consists created in the in-game Scenario Editor, defined in ConsistTemplates.bin
Like any .bin file, it can be read by RW Tools--no need to mess about with serz.exe
However, these can't be classed as *true* QD consists; I've yet to see one that shows as a QD consist in any other QD scenario, making them more of a scenario specific/one off formation.

In short, the game give the wrong impression regarding what is actually created in the QD screen.

Just for the sake of clarity.

(a) the faulty narrow gauge file was replaced in the most recent uploads of the Southwold Wagons - so all you need to do is to check that you have the wagons and that you have downloaded the most recent version.

(b) the consist editor in TrainSim creates a single file of consists that works for both quick drive and other scenarios ( a quick drive is simply a scenario type )

(c) TSTools and manual editing creates consists located in the Preload folder of stock that are a single file for each consist. Consists made in this way can be either consists or fragments used to build consists ( your choice ) and can be used in either Quick drives or other scenarios.

(d) Consists made using methods b or c work in exactly the same way and are really one and the same thing in their use. Personally I find using the one consist per file method easier but it does need either manual editing ( not difficult) or use of TSTools.

(e) Consists made using method c ( TSTools / Manual ) are easier to edit post creation - this can be important if you download a new route and wish to add it to a consist's valid routes retrospectively.

(f) I think that consists created using method b (TrainSim editor) are always drivable and so one cannot create static consists of just stock using this method - something that is very useful when using consist spawning to populate sidings with stock in quick drives.

The correct answer is as above.
If you have edited a QD consist using The 'in game' QD consist editor (The one that is available from within the Quick Drive section of the game!), then the original file is not overwritten or altered (Even if you keep the same name) but a new QD consist is created (with your alterations) and the details are held in the ConsistTemplates.bin found in the Contents folder.
A new .bin file is NOT created in the Provider/PreLoad folder

This was first pointed out by Mike Simpson a few years ago.

You are right about it being Richard Maxted not Richard Fletcher! (Sorry about that Mr. Fletcher!).

The only advantage to using this QD editor is that you can SEE what you are doing, making it easier to find the 'correct' piece of rolling stock that you require amongst the many variations you may have.
And being able to SEE the QD consist you are creating is helpful!

No issues with the location, but are they really quick drive consists?--they're not available for use in any other scenario as far as I can see, nor do they appear as AI traffic.
When you've created one, can you use it again in another free roam session without having to rebuild it; does it show as an available consist when you click the "choose a loco" picture in the QD screen?
