Hi, does anyone know where I can look up the formation set numbers used on HST’s and Inter City 225’s from 2010 to 2018 for all franchises. Thanks Fred

HST's and Class 91's/MkIV's were fixed formations. Formations would only change if a carriage had to be taken out for maintenance or a power car swap took place.

Class 91:

Loco-TSOE-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-RSB-TF-TF-TF-DVT

HST:

PC-TGS-TS-TS-TS-TS-TRFB-TF-TF-TF-PC

I don't remember any formations that use 3 First Class Vehicles apart from a few on the ECML

The 91+ Mk4 should be as above but with only two TF

The HST sets were either 2+7 (2 Power Cars and 7 coaches) or 2+8

The 2+8 were Power Car TGS-TS-TS-TS-TS-TRFB-TF-TF-Power Car
2+7 was used on Cross Country services with Power Car TGS-TS-TS-TS-TS-TRFB-TF-Power Car

The TRFK was sometimes a TRSB (Second Buffet) depending on the route used

This post on a modelling forum has some good pictures of the real trains

He asked for formations between 2010 and 2018. Between those periods, both HST's and 91's were in 2+9 formations on the ECML.

91 mk4 always had three first class trailers (or at least with an rfo) from new in a 2+9 formation and certainly from post gner days that the op is about.

HST was made 2+9 during the gner mallard refurb but still only 2 first class trailers because an extra standard was added.

This doesn't give any formation numbers, but is quite an interesting read....

Even in BR days the Aberdeen HST's were often strengthened to 2 + 9 in the summer. Iv'e even seen sets with two TGS next to each other. There was also the executive saloon that would appear once in a while

The only online resource I know of was the now defunct AbRail site which died sometime last year I believe. However you can still find some snapshots of it via: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://abrail.co.uk/, probably enough for what you need anyway.

Failing that the only other resource I'm aware of are the Platform 5 Coaching Stock Pocket Books, and of course their combined volumes.
