I extracted the image below of Tyne Yard from Google Earth. I've highlighted what are probably diesel tanks on the left and the fuelling points, note the black stains on the concrete, on the right. Couldn't see a way of getting a date of the image though.

An image from Google Earth will have been in the last year.

The white tank partly shown on the right of that photo looks like a gas tank not a diesel tank, possibly to supply gas to point heaters?

Yes, fair point, Andy, and if it's from the late 1980s, then it wouldn't be authentic for Joe's route which generally depicts anything from the 1950s to the 80s, really.
Cheerz. Steve.

I've just looked using Google Earth Pro which has the ability to view historic images and the setup in the image I posted was the same in 2001, apparently the oldest image available for that area.

The Illustrated History of British Marshalling Yards by Michael Rhodes (amazon link, sorry:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/illustrated-hi ... 209&sr=8-1) includes a track plan of Tyne Yard dated 1963 that indicates (presumably) diesel fueling points on two tracks slightly to the south of the loco servicing shed. Interestingly, they do not appear on the 1986 plan.
