FPS 32/64

Post by chris higgin »

Can any of you knowledgeable people tell me how to change my frame rate settings, I can change them with no problem in 32bit mode but not in 64bit, its stuck at 30 FPS. I have tried changing it on the Steam page eg -SetFPSLimit =50 but to no avail.

Cheers Chris H.

Just tried mine the other night funny enough and worked perfectly fine the same way as setting it via steam launcher tried changing the frame rate digit and the sim set it to what I was setting so works fine for me.

That doesn't "fix" the FPS at 50, but sets the upper limit that will be used.
Why do you feel 30 FPS isn't high enough?

The reason it can't be set via steam is that the setting is for the default 32-bit version.
You could do it by creating a desktop shortcut for Railworks64.exe and use the same parameter in the target window ie -SetFPSLimit =50.
If you have a recent Nvidia card this can also be set in the Nvidia Control Panel.
As Gary says this sets ONLY the upper limit - so your frame rates, in this case, will never exceed 50 fps but they can certainly fall below that figure.

It was more of a curiosity question really, I generally try not to take too much notice of frame rates I do realise that whatever you set is the max. It was just that I opened up in 32 bit on one of the older routes and noticed that it was in the 50/60fps, the 64bit is set at 30fps the only reason I checked was after a new Nvidea update.
Thanks all for the replies.
