It is the uninstalling of the Derby Nottingham Leicester extension that removes the routeproperties.xml file not the uninstalling of the main MML Sheffield to Derby route.
The "fix" uninstall the DNL extension first then uninstall the main MML route.
Then reinstall the main MML Route and finally the DNL extension.
Sounds like a glitch in the JT update process.
Again nearly a 2GB download for minor upgrades.
pH
JT have recommended in the past to uninstall all extensions in reverse order first before installing everything in order again. They should reiterate that every time.

No, they should use a much simpler, more user-friendly, routine for applying minor changes such as these we're discussing.

Stephen
This was the email that I received from JT - no mention of uninstalling the extension before the main route.
• Midland Main Line: Sheffield to Derby - v1.08 Update
• Midland Main Line: Derby-Nottingham-Leicester Extension - v1.03 Update

IMPORTANT! You must have installed the latest version of Midland Main Line: Sheffield-Derby BEFORE installing this new Derby-Nottingham-Leicester Extension software to ensure that it operates correctly.
• Derby-Nottingham-Leicester - v1.03 Update

To obtain the new software:

Log in to your Just Trains account and re-download the software you require to a location on your PC.
To install the new software:
1. Ensure Train Simulator is not running.
2. Uninstall your current version of the software you are updating.
3. Locate the new version that you have downloaded and double-click on the .exe file to start the installation.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

When they were releasing updates to Western Main Lines, Bex Reddy was one of their testers and was always told to be fastidious about the uninstall/reinstall process, even though that sometimes didn’t get relayed when the update was released. As Erewash has some parts included in DNL, it would make sense to do things in order, especially as the extension will uninstall its previous version before installing the update.

But it seem pretty stupid to remove a file, but then put the exact same thing back.

Other than a common Tracks.bin file, which parts are those?

Hi Gary, when the base route installs, it puts in bare tiles with tracks + a few features on the tiles where the addons go and the addon installers replace those files for the built up ones + some extra scenery assets. Reinstalling the base pack effectively removes those updated scenery/mixmap files so everything needs to be reinstalled. I forgot to once and wondered why I had no scenery in the addon bits. :)

Ta Mark, yes I was aware of the shared/common Tracks.bin file, which is why the extensions show all the trackwork/track linked assets but that isn't really a matter of "parts of extension A are included in extension B".
It still isn't a reason for a removal/re-install though.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We're letting you know that new software is now available for the following two Just Trains routes:

Midland Main Line Sheffield-Derby (v1.09)
Midland Main Line: Derby-Nottingham-Leicester Extension (v1.04)

The new software needs to be installed to allow our new Midland Main Line: Nottingham-Lincoln Extension route, which is due for release later this week, to operate and display correctly.

If you log in to your Just Trains account and click on 'Your orders', you will be able to download the new software for both routes.

Please uninstall your current versions of the routes before installing the new software.

Best wishes,

The Just Trains Crew

Just downloaded new add on total just under 650 mb, looking gOOD
This route requires that the Just Trains Midland Main Line: Sheffield-Derby route AND the Midland Main Line: Derby-Nottingham-Leicester Extension are installed for it to work correctly.

The route will also be available soon as a separate route for Train Simulator which does not require any additional route add-ons.

It is of course nice to have updates but they really have lost the plot (if they ever had it) on the method, and still no point motors.

The below log shows all updates for this product since release:

v1.01

- Scenario [NL] 1B21 07:04 Lincoln to St Pancras International - This fix is for the Coupling Task at Nottingham that was failing

- Removal of Barrow Hill assets at industrial estate near Hykeham

- Fix to silver shelter A & B asset

- Fix to Netherfield Station staircase where there was a texture stretched and centre bars not meeting handrail.

- Fixed floating carpark asset at Collingham

- Adjusted placement of signals on Lincoln West Gantry to sit in cages better

- Thales junction boxes added where applicable

- Platform 1 & 2 missing destination boards added

- Staythorpe A46 missing bridge occlusion added
All of those could be accomplished by just releasing a pack containing the edited files.
