Royal Scot was on a special last Saturday from Crewe to York and the train was mostly Mk2 stock but the loco ran in Air Brake mode.

I just wondered what was wrong the the AP Mk2A,B & C that needed fixing?

Many thanks for trying to point me in the right direction.

Dioesn't show for me either, nor does it appear when clicking on "More from this author" when viewing the MkI fix. So...possible reasons include it's either not been approved yet, been pulled, or the upload was one just for AP to evaluate.

As AP have dated the Mk2 ABC pack might be why the file was withdrawn

IF it was withdrawn --- nobody's said it was.

No its not been withdrawn but it seems as if the upload didn't take - its still in the sideloader section which usually means I have made an uploading error somewhere. Easy enough to fix.

Oh, I see what you mean about the installer... and the thread ... I guess I am lucky enough not to have noticed the impact of the AP installer, not least as I have a fairly regular process of using the Windows disk space tools to clean up installations such as redundant windows copies. Suffice to say that we lucky users now have ( or will when I do my upload ) the best of all possible worlds; the error has been spotted and resolved, the manufacturer has fixed the files for future customers, and we few, we lucky few, get to have our very own special fix that just does the minimum needed.

and here is an interesting point.

I have just been checking tenders of my steam locos. The same error of having no vacuum brake but an air brake appears in the tenders of 4F on steam which probably partly explains why it is so aneamic when I run it cab forward. Just fixed it and got upto 50+mph with Mk1 coaches after a test start and stop braking. It also explains why it ran better tender first as the coach brakes were than connected to the engine and not the tender.

I've had a look at the tender.bin files for the 4F and I can see what you mean about the tenders set to air instead of vacuum. Without changing anything in the .bin I did a test on the ECML ( similar section as I think you used) with 5 SK coaches from WLOS which are vacuum. I got the train up to just over 50 from start of scenario and after coming to a full stop got up to over 50 again, this was running with the tender connected to the coaches. I'm not sure if the acceleration was a bit more sluggish but I wouldn't have thought the loco would reach the same speed if the brakes on the coaches were not released properly?

I did notice that the mini buffet coaches that come with the WLOS are setup to use eAirTwinPipe rather than vacuum like all the other coaches with the set, does this mean that they are able to work with a vacuum and air braked loco?

My suggestion applied to the Armstrong Powerhouse site - sorry I should have made that clear.

On the subject of brakes, is anyone having a problem with the dual-braked AP Class 40? It only seems to recognise air brakes, and selecting "Vac-Pass" only enables the locomotive brake.

Was the loco disconnected from the train when you changed over systems?

Also, please that brake modes can only be changed whilst disconnected from rolling stock.

It was a light engine.

Which variant?--I've just tried the Blue Centre Box one with no bother.

So which windows disk space tool are you using that deletes the AP leftover files in this folder C:\Users\Your User name\AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations - I would love to get a copy of that - Please? :D

In the true sense, these are NOT redundant files as they can in some (rare) circumstances used to reinstall a piece of software, but you wouldn't really use them for AP software as its easy just to dl the latest file from the website. If you don't use the Windows .msi installer protocol correctly these files get left behind even though (in this case) they are not needed again. In all the years that I have been involved in computing, I have never met anyone that has used them in the way that they were intended. The Internet has really made them redundant. :)
