Remember Rivit in effect used to be part of DTG, I believe it is their Stirling studio spun off as an independent entity, most of the staff were DTG, and have already worked on TSW, so I don't really think it is typical of a 3rd party developer producing stuff.
Creative rail did say on their web site they were looking at developing stuff in Unreal, I wonder if this is with TSW in mind, or another package being developed by someone we cannot name

Train Sim World (any edition)
That would tend to indicate that TSW2.. 3.. 4.. and 327 will all be without tools for what we would consider hobby content.
Can't say I'm too surprised. A good thing we didn't take the DTG staff at their word when people kept asking for tools and their reply was always "just go and learn Unreal Engine and you can create anything for TSW". That would have been a big old waste of our time

Yes, but the thread is closed with the comment that:
This will remain the answer to the question of "will there be an editor" until the answer changes. Assume there will not be a change to this answer.
And you know what they say happens when you assume...
I think it is a fair bet to surmise that a world editor of any description is not "imminent" (to dust off a very old joke from these parts)

I agree 100% with you.
They are B team with a different name.
People imagine Rivet Games as 3rd Party and DTG convince people that they are third party working on TSW editor.

I think DTG have learnt some lessons from "promising" but not being able to deliver. I genuinely think they did intend to deliver an editor and have decided that whilst it isn't impossible it will be so awkward and create so much work and with some risks of users not being able to use it, that it isn't worth it, for now. So now they are ruling it out for the new version to stop the speculation.
I personally think their aim at some point will be to have a public editor but they won't say anything until they know that they can deliver on it. The availability of third party content both payware and freeware for TS1 must benefit them even if they don't directly earn from sales of it, for example items from SSS or AP. That surely won't be lost on them so I suspect it is a long term aim, unless they intend to keep TS1 going and try and improve it.
In the meantime I expect they will want to keep TS1 going and I hope try and make some improvements to it, if that is indeed possible. Then have TSW2 for console users and those who just want to jump in and drive. I will get the new version and use it alongside TS1, service mode means you do have a myriad of choices, even if some of them are very similar, but it is easy to adjust the weather.
Certainly in recent months I have gone from not using TS1 and using TSW a fair bit to using TSW very little and spending much more time on TS1.

Nah, that's a low excuse. I, for one, can't figure out how the route editor in TS works, not even if my life depended on it. Would that be a reason for them to rule it out? Of course not! Those who can't use it, won't do so.

Don't expect that. After all, the engine on which it's based is 10 years old. Even with the 64bit version, very advanced locos like BMG's Black 5 are hitting the limit. And performance generally drastically drops when running one of these, unless you've got one of those high-end PCs that only the top 1% can afford...
DTG's approach of developing a new simulator actually is the only way forward for a substantial future.

Some people have worked out how to do some things in the Editor
One of the Czech users was able to give us a choice of locos on most DB and UK routes
I though you could not have a repaint without it overwriting the Default livery but new versions are available
I ran one scenario with two different EU64U2 locos - the default DB BR 182 and the OBB 1116
So it is possible but not easy as TS

So we can't make our own routes, or edit pre-existing ones... So it does make TSW pointless???
I guess now we hope DTG create as many of the popular routes (speaking for UK users here) in the UK as possible and all the loco classes and coach types etc etc as possible otherwise (not that I left it) going forward TS will remain the No1 Sim !!!
Disappointing, but hey ho, is what it is !!

Without tools your neighbour countries can not do anything to make their own route
E.g France, Russia

Sorry I should have worded that better, wasn't meaning UK only

As DTG have said they are concentrating on TSW2 I don't see many more new items for the old game.

Class 20 was last DLC for TSW, no more DLC, no more bug fix for TSW.
Game is now not supported by DTG.
All bug fix and DLC for TSW 2.0

Jolly glad I never purchased TSW, but I was worried about my significant investment in TSxxxx, particularly time. In fact I had stopped building my route, I think I'll restart and hopefully share it at some time.
