OK. Rather than locking this thread as a result of several reports I am going to publicly address this and take the bull by the horns.
Whilst technical advice is always welcomed some people need to learn a few "bedside manners". I have found this out the hard way at work by calling people out for what I think are pretty obvious solutions or workarounds from over 20 years in the software business and nearly 30 years of dealing with Microsoft OS issues.
It is time a few people modified the way they respond to other members with an "I know best and you must be an idiot not to know this" tone. This is one of the pitfalls of internet and email communication since things that you could quite reasonably say face to face with somebody and they would see your body language don't work so well in written form where context is lost.
So please folks - before you submit a message please read it several times and consider if you are coming across in a condescending or insulting manner. I'm not going to name names at this point but I am now actively on the case watching what people are posting. We are all here to enjoy train simulation and scoring points for technical knowledge is not really part of that.

Is there anything else other than Windows on that partition Peter? Whilst there's no standardised size for an optimal installation of Win10, 135GB does seem a touch on the high side.

Hi Gary
Unfortunately, it didn't work, still came back with the same error message, it gives two options repair or uninstall, would it pay to try to uninstall and then trying it again

Try the repair option first.

That's what I tried first, will try the uninstall now if no good I will save my consists folder and the assets folder to an external hard drive then redownload TS from steam.
unless you can think of anything else to try

Apart from Windows itself there are numerous Program Files which get installed to the C:\ drive
C:\Windows = 23.1GB
C:\Windows10Uprgade = 20MB
C:\Program Files folder = 2.87GB
C:\Program Files (x86) folder = 5.03GB
C:\Users\Peter = 65.6GB of which 36.5 is Documents folder
But that is only 96.5GB
There are 14 folders with long numbers, like 0c04fea6c22cee264470696fb7, that have a number of files from 2014 called
Windows6.1-7601-X64-ClientCab1.exe
The file size for all folders is 3.60GB

Old Windows 7 updates.
What's in C:\Program Files (x86)?

High Peter & Gary
well, I got the VCR runtime error fixed, but now keep getting the dreaded out of memory message, saying unable to run this scenario, try running it in 64.ive tried both 32 and 64 with the same result.
This message comes up just after it finishes loading, before I get the chance to choose a route to
run

Hi Mike,
Try what I did and in Settings > Graphics - reduce your Texture Filtering to Anisotropic x2
It has sort of worked for me with less OOM crashes

Have any of you with problems had an update to the latest version of windows 10 recently? Mine failed to reinstall directX properly during the upgrade, so I needed to reinstall it.

Any error reported in "View Reliability History" or the Event Viewer to give us a clue as to what is going on?

Does that mean you are able to choose a scenario and TS20XX then crashes? If yes, what happens if you choose the route first and then the scenario in that route?
How are you choosing a scenario?

Hi Mike, have you tried reinstalling DirectX? In Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe.
