It's worth in TS, where textures tend to be pretty uniform, is getting close to being a moot point. The *right* setting for any individual PC, for any given game, is the one that gives the most pleasing visuals without compromising performance or stability. In other words, once gain, getting the configuration right.

So it's an "old fashioned" spinning drive?

Is it just "Steam Guard"?...that's Steam's account security routines, not a PC wide firewall/security scheme.

An old fashioned spinning drive...It shouldn't make much difference, but as you've TS on a faster drive it could spend time waiting for Windows to do it's stuff. It's often recommended to have the OS on the fastest drive, rather than the other way round.

I have a 1TB Drive just for TS & TSW - I don't think I could get a Spinner for that amount
Trying to move all my programs from this Spinner on to a SSD would be difficult as I don't have all the installation disks/ exes for everything
Plus I have no idea on how to do a move of the operating system
And it might be "Recommended" but when I put my first drive in to the computer SSD s were not cheap

Hi
I've been running TS2020 ok now getting vcr runtime error dll not found, then it says retry loading the programme
I hope that doesn't mean restarting TS2020 from scratch

Is this the '100" or the "140" error?
You need to make sure that all of these visual C++ Redistributable are present particularly the 2015 versions X86 and 64-bit versions

By amount do you mean disc size or financial cost?

I suspect that a big part of your problem is the in-place upgrade to Win10---far better to use a major OS revision as a good reason for a clean installation. As long as you have valid, registered licenses for your extra programs you'll be able to download installation routines from the publisher.
However, nobody has suggested you do any of that; you've just been asked questions. Stop second guessing the reasoning behind those questions!!

I did recommend a "CLEAN" Windows 10 install way back!

I stand corrected Peter...admittedly it's what I'd do, and also recommend to Peter, but I can understand his reluctance. He also needs to think carefully about the structure of his drives; whilst we've learnt from an expert that Linux does things differently to Windows, we're looking at a Windows based system where partitioning is no longer *the done thing*. I believe sorting that would go a great way towards curing peter's problems.

HI Peter
The error message code execution cannot proceed because VCRRUNTIME 140 dll was not found, Reinstalling the program may fix this problem,
Where will I need to look to find out whether the missing items are there or not

Michael..
..\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Install
double click the vcredist_x86.exe file in there and let it run, overwriting any files if it asks.
The 2015 package; if it's needed, try with just what comes with the game first, is at

But it was in 2013 when I purchased Railworks 3/TS 2012
When I built this Computer it just had a 500GB Spinner and that was ok at the time - People then said the game should not be on the same drive as the OS so the drive was partitioned for that reason
But as the game required more space I invested in another 500GB Spinner -
this was 2015 and SSD drives were not that cheap.
The new drive became G:\ because the game, TS2015 was on it.
As I continued to buy more items I was running out of room plus my Digital Pictures were also taking up more space I purchased a 1TB Samsung SSD 860 EVO just for Railworks
Which left the 500GB Spiner just for my photographs
My OS sits on a Partitioned Drive of 208GB with 72GB free - how much free space should it have Gary?

They don't, or at least shouldn't. The correct advice is:
"The game should not be on the same
physical drive as the OS"
In 2015, when you added the second disc--in fact even back in '13 when you bought the PC, Win 7 was released in 2009--we'd been running NTFS based operating systems, which certainly perform better on single volumes per physical disc. Since we've had filing systems that can deal with large discs, there's been no need for the average PC user to consider partitioning.
