I am trying to run a scenario which uses the Railright Class 40 which I obviously have. Cannot get it going and running through all the Class 40 manuals cannot see what the manual is under. Can anyone point me at the name of the manual please?

It was called "Class 40 Locomotive Pack" when it was originally published. Now it is called "Class 40 (AP) Manual"

OK thanks - will look for it under that. Put in an old DT Class 40 for this scenario as it is so dark to find stuff and try the Railright in one of the others

Hi, if your using the steam version, the manual is called BR Class 40 '40145' Manual.pdf - otherwise the manual is in the EN Armstrong Powerhouse folder.

Thanks guys - found it now - all these different places and Manual naming differences makes it hard to see the wood for the trees. As mentioned to brysonman46 I had to abandon the scenario I was using it in as got interrupted so had to save. Came back to it and find I cannot carry on as I had not realized there was a full sequence to shut down before saving. All a bit of a long winded thing so where I might need to save will swap in an old Class 40 that is more basic

I've copied all the manuals from the TS Manuals folder into a set of folders on another drive - then I've set up sub-folders for routes, rolling stock, scenery, signals, track etc, and further sub-folders by country, and for UK rolling stock diesel, electric, steam, etc. Then I've renamed a lot of the manuals in a consistent, logical way (for me, of course). I've shared the folders so I can open the manual on my old computer via my network while driving on my gaming computer.

Just tried a scenario starting in Preston sidings with instructions to change manual points to leave. However there is no option to manually change points in the area so unable to proceed. Has anyone else had a similar problem.

Hi Peter
What was the name of the scenario - I can then check with the scenario creator

Hi
I have completed a manual install of the route and am missing very few items (three !), so I am pleased with that.
But similarly I tried my first scenario that starts at Preston, so that I can try out one of the new parts of the route. The one I chose involves starting out of Ladywell sidings at Preston with 47501 in blue, to proceed LE to the station. There you have to wait for the Liverpool portion of a Class 86 hauled express from Glasgow, to depart. Then you draw out of Preston and set back on the remaining Manchester portion of its train.
I can depart the sidings and I can set the points. But on arrival in Preston station I await the departure of the Liverpool portion at 1751 before carrying on. However this portion with the Class 86 attached, never leaves ! So I cant attach to the remainder of the train to take it to Manchester !
Nick...can you have a look at this please ? Its the first scenario of the new version I have tried..and its a problem already.
Cheers
Derek

Hi Derek
Very strange - it certainly worked for me and the other testers. The Cl86 should have been long gone (it pulls off the front of the complete train, and departs to the north of the station - as seen in the Liverpool destination scenario)). A Cl 47 then pulls into the station, and takes the front half (this is the train that should be departing as you wait in the adjacent platform) to Liverpool. Which version were you trying - the VP or non-VP?
I will contact the scenario creator about it
Nick

Nick
Whilst you are contacting the scenario creator relating to the first scenario I have tried on the extended route since installing it...you need to contact the scenario creator of "9T97 0941 Ribble Sidings to Deepdale" too ! Yep..another non working scenario..thats two out of two for me so far. On this scenario you start off with a Class 40 in "Preston NU Yard siding 5", and are instructed to proceed LE to Ribble Sidings, "ensuring you check any manual points on leaving NU Yard"...except THERE ARE NO MANUAL POINTS ! And as a result, the loco derails at the first wrongly set points on leaving the yard, and yet again "Game Over" !!
Has every scenario been thoroughly checked Nick..before the newly extended route was released ????

I've just tried the standard version of the first scenario Derek finds troublesome, and found that the 86 wouldn't path back to the loco siding---quite possibly because I've just thrown the route on and have loads of missing assets. Routing the 86 to another siding that didn't involve reversing allowed it to run out of the way. the 47 moved to couple to the Liverpool coaches successfully, departed on time and allowed the player loco to move in to couple up to the Manchester portion.
Basically, there ain't a lot wrong with it!
Derek, once again I'm going to tell you to that learning the very basics of scenario editing/tweaking is what you really should be looking at; if you can then tweak a scenario to work on your system then, and only then, are you in a position to question whether the testing has been comprehensive enough. Yes, those with a reasonable memory will recall me posing the same question, but
ONLY after I'd sorted the scenario(s) under discussion and found the reason for the problems (problems for many that is, not just on my install)
shinymac wrote:and am missing very few items (three !), so I am pleased with that.
Much depends on what those assets are; scenery and you'll probably be fine but if they're track linked you're liable to hit problems--just what are you short of?

Gentlemen
I have been in contact with the scenario creator of the ones in question. Due to a bit of a hiccup (probably on my part), slightly earlier versions of the 2 scenarios were published by mistake. ALL scenarios have been tested by our team, and only let into the pack if 2 or more gave the thumbs up.
We will sort out shortly (and retest the correct versions). With over 90 scenarios (plus QDs), we will hang back a couple of days to ensure that no more fall victim to this malaise.
I can only apologise
What items are you missing, Derek
