I've done that Peter.

I've placed the player train and the Matrix Trains Hawkesworths and Toplights on my test route and there are no triangles anywhere.

Update - my graphics card has just died so I'm wondering whether the flying triangles were a symptom of it slowly deteriorating.

Guess I'll find out when I get a new card next week.

Well, unfortunately, that answers that question.

My GTX 780 died so I replaced it with a GTX 1660 SUPER. While I was at it I moved my system drive (which included my TS installation) onto a 1Tb SSD and added another 16 Gb of RAM to the existing 8 Gb.

The triangles are still there. (And TS doesn't appear to load much quicker.)

Darn!

Not having had any success tracking down the problem (except by removing the Matrix Trains Hawkesworths and Toplights). I thought I'd try a different scenario.

I tried Limited Diner (Part 1). I got the flying triangles at the start (from certain viewing angles). So I removed the folders for the Hawkesworths and the Toplights. I still get the triangles.

This is sooo frustrating!

So it's not the Matrix Hawkworths and Toplights causing your problem then. You need to check what other assets you have installed thats causing this.

I've had this flying triangles problem before and it was caused by a bin file calling for an aliased geopcdx file that didn't having it's provider pair ticked. A lot of head scratching was done to find this. Actually found it while copying and pasting bins into folders for the Harrogate loop (I like a Clean report in RWTools!) and not ticking the provider for the donor folder.

Thanks for the thought Mark.

If that was the case, wouldn't everybody get the same flying triangles effect? Some people have reported being able to run the scenario without the flying triangles problem. (However, if they didn't have the stock involved anyway, that might not cause the triangles, if you see what I mean).

To check it out I tried to edit a clone of the scenario (Pullman Departs) in the TS2020 editor. Trouble is when I clicked the blue cube and looked on the right fly-out, the drop-down box of providers won't drop down. Any thoughts on how to overcome that?

Gordon (Matrix Trains) has suggested that perhaps "if the route author has included a GeoPcDx file ( instead of aliasing it) that has DRM Steam protection, and if you don’t have that steam asset it kicks in the DRM protection causing all the screen triangles."

If that's the case, then that might explain why some people have the problem and some don't. If I don't have the particular steam asset then I get the problem but someone that has that steam asset won't.

The strange thing is that many of the scenarios for the SVR route have the flying triangles but at least one doesn't (Pullman Arrival). I can't figure out what is different between Pullman Arrival and Pullman Departs that they behave so differently. That, to me, indicates that it's a scenario level problem rather than a route level one.

I FINALLY solved it!

I won’t bore you with a list of all of the things I tried. What it came down to was the files added to the GordonMack\Mt_Colletts_LW folder by the SteamSoundsSupreme Steam Era Carriage Sound Pack.

By digging out my copy of the SteamSoundsSupreme Steam Era Carriage Sound Pack and extracting and replacing the additional files in that folder, everything is now triangle-less. Somehow the SSS files must have been corrupted.

Now to run some SVR scenarios without fear of triangles.

John,
Your determination to get this sorted is quite impressive! I'm sure many people would have given up weeks ago. Congratulations and enjoy!

Cheers,

Thanks Paul.

I'm finding with TS, much like I did with MSTS, that the "fun" is in sorting out these kinds of puzzles and not so much actually running the trains!

Steam Sounds Supreme posted on their Facebook page yesterday that it's still available to download here:
https://sowl.co/br1yFm

I'm not sure why it's not listed on the freeware routes page on their website?

Possibly because, good as the route itself undoubtedly is, the vast majority of the scenarios for it are fundamentally flawed.

Hi

I never bought this route, but being a tight sod now that it appears to be FREE (!) I would like to download it. BUT....not having followed any developments of the original route, can anyone tell me if the problems that exisited with the speeding, and scenarios was ever fixed by SSS ?

Thanks
