I've no idea; the one the reskins are based upon; nowhere, it'll be somewhere in your assets folder.

I don't have the route so can't check what's included to pin it down.

Apparently, the 4F is from the Academy.

Click the 'Bell' icon in the HUD to switch between driving modes.

Have you topped the boiler up as you're driving along?

Try the DTG default Academy loco.

Do you have auto fireman enabled in your game settings?

Yes I do have Auto Fireman ticked. I will try to find this "DTG Default Academy" Class 4F that you mention, and I didnt know even existed ! (If I can find it to swap it).

Hi All

Just an update. I have swapped the SSS Class 4F for the "DTG/Academy" version. (Incidentally they are BOTH in the DTG folder !).

I can now at last get the 4F to move. I didnt realise that even with "Auto Fireman" ticked, the water level WILL go down INITIALLY, but it will top itself up when it gets down to 74%. So yes I can now run that scenario on the SSS route (Off to Cark). BUT (isnt there always a but !)......the Academy 4F looks awful....it has wasp stripes (like on a Class 08 Diesel), on the front buffer beam, on the rear of the tender, and on the front edge of the cab where it meets the boiler ! It also has "Train Simulator Academy" written all down the length of the tender.

So thanks for all your advice guys, but I have spent enough time trying to get one scenario to work. So I will just swap the loco for something that IS straightforward to drive.

That still remains what seems to everyone to be an impossible question to answer....

HOW DO YOU DRIVE STAINMORE ROUTE STEAM LOCOS IN "LEGACY MODE"... ie,the easy way ????????????????????

Thanks

Derek

Do you have the Netherfield Nottingham route as there is a 4F in that route without any stripes on the end

Of course they are, the SSS one is essentially just a RESKIN of the DTG one. From what I can gather though, the SSS one uses a different Input Mapper, so if you haven't that installed it won't/can't respond to any non-standard key presses.
It'd be dead easy to produce a .bin file that would use the simplified DTG controls with the more prototypical SSS textures.

Derek

The impossible is possible...

The problem is that the input mapper files for the loco has no entry for 'drivemode' hence why pressing enter/return or any other key works.
I have updated the input mapper files and you can download them from this link:
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/9zrwnlwfsqzab/TS_Fixes

I have set the key to switch between simple and advanced mode as enter/return to avoid any confusion. The readme in the zip file gives instructions but it's just a simple copy and paste and job overwriting the old files (a back of the originals are included).

Hi GWRDevon

Thanks for explaining and for sending me those files.

Whilst I have a very basic knowledge of tinkering with TS, the words "input mapper" dont me a thing to me ! But I will have a go at copying and pasting as you say...I can normally do that at least. But does the file you send me just allow me to drive the 4MT in "legacy mode" ? Or does it convert ALL Stainmore route locos ?
Also, which button on the HUD will I need to press to run any given loco in "legacy mode" ?

Thanks

Derek

You need to press the return/enter key on your keyboard to switch to legacy mode, nothing to do with the HUD.

According to the manual only the BR Standard Class 4 2-6-0 & BR Standard Class 4 4-6-0 come with advanced mode and these can be switched to simply mode as above once you you have copied over the files.

Derek, you have a mail--as you don't want to drive in Advanced mode, the ability to switch is rather bloody pointless. What you need is the loco starting in simple mode, and staying in that mode.
