What is JT_AddonPJ Bristol_ExetervW?

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

Found instructions for the AP Sky Weather for South West Expressways to Reading, which refers to:

steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JT_AddonPJ\Bristol_ExetervW\TimeOfDay

Now, my Bristol_ExetervW folder only has 'preload' and 'RouteMakers' folder, that is all. Nothing else in the JT_AddonPJ folder.

I have JT's Bristol Exeter route, I thought maybe the steam version puts something in this folder, but evidently it doesn't.

I have Western Mainlines, Newcastle route, Bristol - Exeter and South Western Mainlines installed, so what add on do I need that uses the Bristol_ExetervW? I can't think of any routes I'm missing of JT's routes that covers Bristol Exeter?

I have googled it with no luck, and nothing on here either, anyone by chance know what I'm missing please?

One for VP's support pages I'd say James, and with no intent to belittle that fine organisation it looks like the download package isn't complete.
The route's RouteProperties.xml file calls for:

Code: Select all

<BlueprintSetID>

<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>

<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">JT_AddonPJ</Provider>

<Product d:type="cDeltaString">Bristol_ExetervW</Product>

</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>

</BlueprintSetID>

<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">templateroutes\a25_bristol_exeter.xml</BlueprintID>
which is also missing.
However, the time of day files called for by RouteProperties.xml are all in the

..\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorCore\TimeOfDay\

folder :o

Hi, the route you are missing is actually the core route which is South Western Expressways from JT which is why the folder is so bare!

Interesting I have South Western Expressways :-? I'll re-install it and see if it fixes it, I haven't used it for some time don't know what I've done to it, but a re-install should solve that then!

Thank you Mark :)

After you've copied the assets and contents folders across into the railworks root folder, don't forget to run the SWE bat file.

That doesn't copy anything into either SWE route asset folder though:

Code: Select all

Copy "Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Vehicles\barge_01.GeoPcDx" "Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Vehicles\Canal boat 1\barge_01.GeoPcDx"
Copy "Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Vehicles\barge_01.GeoPcDx" "Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Vehicles\Canal boat 2\barge_01.GeoPcDx"
Copy "Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Vehicles\barge_01.GeoPcDx" "Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Vehicles\Canal boat 3\barge_01.GeoPcDx"
Copy "Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Vehicles\tractor.GeoPcDx" "Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Vehicles\Tractor 1\tractor.GeoPcDx"
Copy "Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Vehicles\tractor.GeoPcDx" "Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Vehicles\Tractor 2\tractor.GeoPcDx"
7za.exe e "%~dp0RSC\RivieraLine\RivieraLineAssets.ap" -o"%~dp0RSC\RivieraLine\Scenery\Vehicles\Tractor2\" "Scenery\Vehicles\SH_Tractor.GeoPcDx"  -r -y
7za.exe e "%~dp0RSC\RivieraLine\RivieraLineAssets.ap" -o"%~dp0RSC\RivieraLine\Scenery\Vehicles\Tractor3\" "Scenery\Vehicles\SH_Tractor.GeoPcDx"  -r -y
Copy "RSC\BrightonMainLine\Stations\Station_lamp_double.GeoPcDx" "RSC\BrightonMainLine\Lights 2\Station_lamp_double.GeoPcDx"
Copy "RSC\BrightonMainLine\Stations\Station_lamp_single.GeoPcDx" "RSC\BrightonMainLine\Lights 2\Station_lamp_single.GeoPcDx"
Copy "JustTrains\CommonLibrary\Scenery\Procedural\jt_brickplatform_25m.XSec" "JustTrains\CommonLibrary\Scenery\Procedural\Bedwyn\jt_brickplatform_25m.XSec"
Del "7za.exe"
Del "SWE.bat"
The big question though, and one for JT to answer, is "why does the SWE route call for another route's configuration files rather than have it's own?" ---it's not as if making it as self contained as possible is hard.

The instructions are on the download page,it involves changing the timeofday files located in Assets\JT_AddonPJ\Bristol_ExetervW\TemplateRoutes,I can assure you this method works as I did it myself,as per the AP Sky/Weather EP manual.

Swapping to AP Weather EP sky,lighting and weather on South Western Expressways to Reading:

The AP Weather and Sky Enhancement Pack is highly recommended to vastly improve the lighting on this and other routes. Instructions on how to activate the AP Weather EP on this route are below:

To do this you require the AP Weather and Sky Enhancement pack from - https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com

1:
Go to steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\AP\WeatherEP\TimeOfDay

Copy all 4 Season files (Spring,Summer,Autumn,Winter) to steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JT_AddonPJ\Bristol_ExetervW\TimeOfDay

Once Copied,change the names of each of the AP season files to match the ones of the existing files. I.E change "Spring" to "a25_spring",make sure you rename the original "a25_spring" file first!!

Do this step again for Summer,Autumn and Winter,so you are left with the AP files,carrying the names of the original JT Files.

2:
Load the South Western Expressways to Reading and enable the AP-WeatherEP developer filter. You will then be able to use the weather in your own scenarios. Existing scenarios should already be setup.

Any issues with this,please contact VP Support.

Indeed,not sure why that is,I have installed SWE from the JT website and the files installed to the correct location for myself to do the instruction as posted.

I had a chance to try it this morning, I installed SWE again, I still had the installer, and sure enough the appropriate files have appeared :D

No idea what happened to that folder, I may have been messing around in it ages ago I don't know, but either case it works and missing scenery has appeared, thank you all! :D

Hi
I have followed the instructions to the letter I changed the old file from Autumn.bin to a25_autumn, but when I try to add the AP file after renaming it to a25_autumn it tries to overwrite the renamed file that's in the folder

Of course it will Mike, you've both files with the same name there!
If the original file is called Autumn.bin, rename it to Autumn.bin.ORIGINAL--better to add a new file extension, as you can see at a glance what the original name was and the game won't even attempt to ever open it as it's not a recognised game file extension--
Copy over the AP file, and rename that to have the same name as the JT file originally did, in this example you'd rename it to Autumn.bin

Thanks
For your reply, I was just double-checking, as I thought the instruction was a bit misleading, where it said to give both of them the same name
Just like to thank you for your help and understanding you have given me over the past year, and that goes to everyone else who has helped me.
Just Like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and hope 2020 will be a better year for some of us
