Hello all,
On taking a spin with Tornado, with Auto Fireman off, on the mainline from Paddington, I find it hard initially to stop the safety valves going off every minute or two!
I've read the firing sticky thread, and once I've got to Southall I've generally got it under control using the tips, open regulator at 100% and topping up water when coming into a station, but there comes a point where it blows off again.
At the start at Paddington, theres a 3 minute wait before departure. In that 3 minutes the boiler pressure builds up and the safety valve goes off a few times The water level is at 0.96 so I can't top it up with water yet to cool the boiler. If I use the blower the boiler pressure ramps up and it blows off again. Is there anything I can do to keep it under control at the start while waiting for departure time?
If anyone has any tips for me that would be most appreciated!
James.

Close the dampers. Let the fire mass drop.
Both give a colder fire, so less steam.

"Mardy Bum" by Arctic Monkeys would seem to be an apt song title..... (shinymac wrote:then have some loud music handy

Hi and thanks for that info regarding closing the dampers. I have always resorted to just adding cold water, but that does not last long enough.IronBidder wrote:Close the dampers. Let the fire mass drop.

I like the following idea.
