I take it if you have to start from scratch its this one at JT ?
https://www.justtrains.net/product/koeb ... 3-reloaded
which started life as the still available free version
https://www.treinpunt.nl/forum/index.ph ... s;lid=6795
One question I have is, as I prefer ambling around country lines as opposed to thrashing mainlines
Has this new version concentrated on the mainlines at the expense of the,, quote "rusty country lines",, might I be better with the free version, or is this new offering really , really good ?
John
The "mainline" has lots of scenic detail, it's very good for just driving around.
Then there are the branch lines, of which there are actually various. One is an operational branchline. Two others are operated as museum lines, with tracks of much lower quality of maintenance.
The original v3 also had some extra tracks which are closed off unfortunately in both reloaded versions, going from one of museum branchline stations to a brewery.
Reloaded v2 has quite a fair bit of new track, with scenery done in exquisite details and many custom models.

I'm getting confused now as the email said I purchased
Im Köblitzer Bergland Reloaded (Strecke) AS4 but the file on my computer shows it as
AS_KOEBLITZER-BERGLAND-3_RELOAD_V100.exe
So I'm not exactly sure if both are the same thing?

I believe this is the right file, Peter. It should be the original Koeblizer Bergland reloaded (Koeblitzer Bergland v3 was upgraded to Koeblitzer bergland v3 Reloaded). The newly released route is Koeblitzer Bergland 3 Reloaded v2.00. Rather confusing, I know...
To summarise:
Koeblitzer Bergland v3 (the old route)
Koeblitzer Bergland v3 Reloaded v1.00 (the one you bought back in 2016)
Koeblitzer Bergland v3 Reloaded v2.00 (the newly released route)

This is the 2D map of the new version and it's certainly been extended at the bottom of the old route, and just one asset folder called SAD2016 was installed, so, off now to have a look!!!
Cheerz. Steve.

There is one obvious graphical problem I've found. Most of the elements of Altenberg Station are only displayed when scenery level is set at 10 (max). I've tried to alter this in the editor, but I'm unable to grab any of the objects as they are either lofts or objects that the mouse can't select.
Any suggestions on how to make the station appear on lower scenery settings?

Request a better PC from Santa?....
Being slightly more serious, and possibly even helpful, you could try editing the .bin files directly. Look for this section:
Code: Select all
<DetailLevelGenerationRange>
<cSceneryRenderBlueprint-sDetailLevelGenerationRange>
<HighestLevel_1isHighest d:type="sInt32"><value goes here></HighestLevel_1isHighest>
<LowestLevel_10isLowest d:type="sInt32"><value goes here></LowestLevel_10isLowest>
</cSceneryRenderBlueprint-sDetailLevelGenerationRange>
</DetailLevelGenerationRange>
and edit the <value goes here> bits accordingly. Back up first, at least once, of course.

Sorry Gary, this means nothing to me. What is a .bin file and do they exist at individual scenery object level? I was hoping for advice on using the editor to alter the scenery level that objects appear in the when they can't apparently be selected. Moving the global slider makes the platforms and other parts pop in and out of visibility, so there must be something that sets them.

OK, first let's deal with the misconception/confusion about the "detail level slider" in the world editor:
With it set at 10, a collection of assets shows as:
Setting the slider to 1 hides a big chunk of 'em:
Saving the route with that setting of 1 however, still results in this view during game play:
The slider is only a tool we can use in the editor to possibly make selection of assets in a *crowded* section easier.
IronBidder wrote:What is a .bin file and do they exist at individual scenery object level?
Everything we see in the game, from the most insignificant item of foliage to the most advanced loco, only shows because the game reads that particular asset's .bin file. The .bin file tells the game where to find the .GeoPcDx file, the actual model *shape* and that .GeoPcDx file tells the game where to find the pretty pictures, .TgPcDx, files to wrap around that shape. For lofts, the equivalent of the .GeoPcDx file is the .Xsec file---essentially the same thing.
The .bin file defines the range of visibility levels that the asset can/will use, but to complicate things the game picks which to use to manage PC resources efficiently---in theory at least, sometimes it get's it wrong which is why we see reports of "missing bridges" etc.
IronBidder wrote:they can't apparently be selected. Moving the global slider makes the platforms and other parts pop in and out of visibility
Not being able to select assets in the editor is worrying. First thing to check is that the route isn't "locked"; check the the little padlock in the bottom right hand corner of the editor screen is unlocked, like this:
If it's unlocked and you still can't select assets it suggests that the asset's .bin files have been edited to make them unselectable. As you can't select them you can't find out what the path and file name is to be able to easily open the file in RW Tools and edit it
All is not lost though, there are still things we can do to work out what's what but first just double check the padlock thing, and see what happens in the editor if you simply hover your mouse over where an invisible asset is to see if that makes it pop into view and post back. What master level do you have the Scenery Quality and Scenery Density set at in the game's Options?

Gary, thanks for taking the time to reply. In answer to your questions:
The padlock symbol is open.
The asset doesn't pop in or out of view when the detail level slider is at 9. It only appears when the detail level slider is at 10 and isn't selectable.
I run TS2020 with the scenery quality at 3 and the scenery density at 9.

As a quick test, just slam that up to maximum and see what happens--what are the specs of your PC?

At max detail and density the station is visible in play, but is still un-selectable in the editor. This is true in both 32 and 64 bit.
PC Specs:
AMD A8-5600K 3.6 GHz
8 GB DDR3 Memory 1866 MHz
Geforce GTX 750 Ti
250 GB SSD
Win 10 64 bit

Progress of sorts at least. Your CPU isn't the worlds best, but you should be able ro run at higher settings than you were. Dial them down a step at a time now and see at which point the stationetc disappear, then go back up 1.
I don't have the route so can't check any .bin files so I'd like to think that somebody else who has the route will chip in to corroborate or refute the *non selectability* of the assets, and whether the .bin files seem to have the "selectable" field set at "False"

Altenberg station disappears at a detail setting of 9, one below max.
