Thanks for the replies. The issue with the AP one is that the VP scenario has not been updated so does not accept it as far as we can see Peter.
If anyone else who sees this has a copy of the original can you let us know,

Geoff...

It makes no odds whether VP have made any changes or not--if the scenario calls for a .bin file of a particular name in a particular location and actually finds a file that satisfies those criteria it's happy. Doesn't matter if the stock supports any AP enhancement or not. You could copy any .bin file to the correct location, renaming it of course to suit the scenario, and it will work---you could have a class 47 in there if you wanted. If you have, or get, the AP pack just use RW Tools to swap the stock.

The reskin was removed from ATS for a reason, doesn't seem to have reappeared anywhere else so we have to assume/accept that the reskinner wishes it to be unavailable. That means that asking for it in here as an unofficial file transfer is possibly against forum rules/guidelines, even more so as it was originally hosted on another site.

Gptech,
Hi, thanks for your reply and apologies if we are doing something we should not be. My issue is that I am trying to interpret the requirements of behalf of my son who is the TS user and has been for the last 10 years, but has a communication disability, I do not actually use the game myself or understand the terminology or how the programme works, I am just trying to solve the issue for him.
Thanks again Alistair

No worries Alistair, no harm's been done.

OK, don't worry about not knowing how it all works--many seasoned TS users don't!

To re-cap on my earlier post, the game reads the scenario's ScenarioProperties.xml and Scenario.bin files which tell it which rolling stock .bin files to load, where to place them in the game, and which instructions to apply to them. Those rolling stock .bin files could call for something completely different to a class 365 but the game doesn't care about that, it's loaded the file it's been instructed to load so everything's tickety-boo.

If you have the AP class 365 enhancement pack you'll have a Scotrail example, which you can easily set to be the one used with RW Tools. If you don't have said pack you may think 12 quid is a bit much to pay in order to get a scenario working, particularly if the 365 isn't an item of stock that is regularly used.
There's a free GN reskin at https://superalbs.weebly.com/class365greatnorthern.html which, using RW Tools again, could be pressed into service as a surrogate, "yet to have the vinyl applied" Scotrail unit. It could also be used in a folder of the name the scenario is looking for, with any file names amended of course, to match how the scenario is already written, and with a suitable logo applied actually be a *REAL* Scotrail reskin. Lots of options open to you, just post which suits you best.

I don't have the scenario, have you a link to it?

If you have the AP ScotRail reskin and want to use that, or Albie's GN version just to get the scenario running you'll need to swap the stock with RW Tools. If you don't know how to do that with RW Tools, just shout out--there are dozens in here who'll walk you through the (fairly simple) procedure.

If you don't have RW Tools it's available from http://www.agenetools.com/downloads.html

I'd strongly urge you to grab a copy anyway, even if you don't use it in this case as it does make *taking control* of your game on your PC (don't forget what the 'P' in PC stands for) so much easier.

I've found the RetroScot scenario today and that's allowed me to check the pathing for the files the 3 class 365 consists call for, so this might appeal as a quick fix:

https://ln2.sync.com/dl/fabf80d20/5gqa4 ... n-hbg4uyh8

Not the greatest of reskins, but it fits the bill and will allow the scenario to run as written.

Just drag the Assets folder that's in the .zip and drop it in your RailWorks folder. You'll need to copy over the dmos.GeoPcDx, ptosl.GeoPcDx and tosl.GeoPcDx files from either another reskin of the 365 you have or from the ECMLSAssets.ap archive that you'll have in the ..\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\ECMLS folder. Those 3 .GeoPcDx files need putting in the ..\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\ECMLS\RailVehicles\Electric\Class365\Class365\ScotRail folder that the copying over what's in the .zip will have created.

If you don't know how to get into the .ap archive to do that, once again just shout up.

You would think support over there would be more benificial wouldnt you giving how this is meant to be the "go to place" for all your train sim needs. Had a quick look at the forum dont look exactly live a hive of activity needless to say. Seems people will jump onto there get problems then come here and expect members to help them.

..and the fact that they get it just shows how helpful a community this is. :D

There are many sites, for many games/applications, that supply content but are somewhat lacking in support so it can't be seen as anything unusual.....unfortunately. That's just the way the world is--the film 'Idiocracy' seems more like a prophecy than fiction every week..

The original poster asking for help has been a UK Trainsim member since 2011 so I would suggest has every right to come on here and ask for assistance if this is not available on the AT site. This us and them attitude is unwelcome and unhelpful although as Gary says help was given regardless, to the credit of the UK Trainsim community.

Giving assistance is an odd thing though... be too quick to jump in with "I know the answer to this, it's because....." can all too often be perceived as having a dig at the provider. Sometimes it is of course, we're back to real people with real gripes/hang ups/prejudices in a real world there. Conversely, be too slow and it's either seen as "he can't be bothered" or "marvellous...he's just taken all that's been posted earlier by others and put it in one post to make it look like he's aware of what's happening and can suggest a fix"

It's really no surprise that an "us and them" sentiment exists at times, that's how it is in the real world whether it be between sites focused on the same activity or a more general view of things----anti-virus/security forums are a great illustration of how much polarisation can exist!

Whether it's right or wrong, valid or not, given the launch of ATS and the hype around it being the only place you'd need to go for anything, it's hard to deny that in part at least it's fallen on it's árse, which can only increase the chances of any ill feeling/us and them views being generated.
There's been no real argument though that the OP shouldn't have asked the question in here...as I posted (much) earlier, he's more likely to get a useful/workable/sensible suggestion/bodge/solution here than anywhere else.

That was exactly the point I was trying to make in not as many words.

Not going to get into the whys and wherefores about locking up freeware behind a subscription since that has been done before. I would note however, that is it perfectly feasible to download even the largest files on this site on the free service if you have enough patience and a stable internet connection.
Kindest regards

Hi there guys
On the subject of ATS and support
I was very keen to have a support forum that replicated the amazing advice I had seen over the years here on UKTS but unfortunately the world has moved on.
Facebook has by far been the best way for support and on average we have 160 posts a day a good percentage of those will be support

Hope this clears things up for you cheers ALan Thomson

In response to the removal of the skin unfortunately I have zero power to retain products that other devs have chosen to remove
You will be best contacting the scenario developer or swapping the stock out with railworks tools.
I have a video on how to do this in my tutorials section on YouTube there are also plenty of threads on here about how to achieve this cheers
