Quick question - and apologies if already covered ^^

Is this an entirely new route, or update to the previous??

Entirely new route as far as TS2020 is concerned but I used the original NWNGR route as a base to start from.
Added a whole load of new assets and track

I have no BR Tracks in the station at Blaenau ! The train from Llandudno Arrives floating on air..lol. I have ran the route through RWT, and any missing assets relate entirely to the Michael Whiteley Austerity J94 which is currently in my library. so I own it.

Can anyone help ?

Also on any uphill scenarios like for example the one from Tan y Bwlch to Tanygrisau, there is no way I can complete the long tortuous climb without running out of steam ! I have even reduced the length of my train by 3 passenger coaches. This lets me get a little further, but I still grind to a halt after a while. Am I driving incorrectly ? Has anyone completed any long uphill scenarios ?

Thanks !

Derek
Hi
As far as I can remember, the BR trackwork at Blaenau was from the Settle & Carlisle route. I didn't add much from Austerity other than was was originally there.

Hi Folks

I think I have solved both my issues.

1. The Missing BR Tracks at Blaenau F was due to the fact that I had a Michael Whiteley folder sub folder called "AusterityJ94", but I also needed another sub folder called simply "Austerity". I managed to obtain one, and as soon as I installed it the BR Tracks appeared !

2. I had "Auto Fireman" turned OFF. But when I turned it ON I could climb without stalling and or running out of steam ! So it worked better with Auto Fireman turned ON !

Thanks for those that pointed me in the right direction.

Regards

Derek

As I final question...I appreciate that the WHR Scenery is not yet complete, but as far as I understand the track IS. So how can I drive along the WHR track ?

I might be missing something here, but as a first step I'd suggest finding or placing a train on it.

This is looking fantastic - well done to all involved!

Would it be possible to make the Readme available separately to the main download, please? I'd like to review the DLC usage first...

Thanks!

Being pedantic doesnt suit you Gary,

What I want to know is :

1. Does anyone know. (I know.. I should ask the route author !)....if the route comes with any quick drives, or free roams allowing users to drive along the WHR ?

Or do you have to create your own consist via the Editor and place it on the route ?

Hope this makes it clear ?

You have it installed Derek, so if none appear in the menus then no, it doesn't.

If you want to drive the Welsh Highland Railway, you should download the first version of the route that was uploaded to UKTrainSim by Steve Fleming (ThePhantomPhish) a couple years ago. That version has all the WHR trackwork and fully placed WHR scenery. The 2020 version of the route recently uploaded from Steve Pontin is focused exclusively on the Ffestiniog in this first phase, with a significant rework of the WHR to come at a later juncture. To get ready for that, in the 2020 version, Steve Pontin stripped the scenery along the entire WHR portion of the route (I've only run the Ffestiniog portion so far, so I'm only surmising this from what I've read in Steve's previous replies in this tread).

So in short, if you want WHR action, run the original version of this route as uploaded by the route's original author ThePhantomPhish a while ago.

Steve Pontin's version of the route didn't come with any quickdrives. It only took a few minutes for me to make a couple basic Up and Down quickdrive scenarios myself beginning at Porthmadog, Blaenau Ffestiniog, and a few points in between.

Lastly, to both Steves, Xavier, and everyone who brought this railway to virtual life, thank you!!! This is my favorite route to run in train simulator, and the newest update - especially with the true 2-foot tracks and unique assets - really brings a lifelike feel to the route. I've said it many times before, but I'm an American with no ability to come to Wales anytime in the imaginable future, so the fact that this route was lovingly recreated - and released for free - is a truly remarkable, laudable achievement. I am incredibly grateful for this entire labor of love!

To quote the download:

The package is a stand-alone package and does not require any additional 3rd party components to operate satisfactorily, however additional 3rd party DLC can be purchased to enhance the general look & feel of this route.
In particular, the Settle – Carlisle Route from RSC is advisable to purchase in order to get the best from this FR & WHR Route. (Available via the STEAM Store)

Is the .exe file in a .zip archive to make the downloading easier?...if so, make sure you extract the file before running it

Sounds like a corrupted download for one reason or another.

I will add, though you haven't said or not, that if you rely on the download queue with its reduced speeds then you do leave yourself open to interruptions which could lead to losses in the datastream.
It is as you might notice a large file to download compared to what else is in the UKTS library so it's not beyond the realms for blips to occur.
But that's one of a number of causes and not necessarily what has happened.

I'm having similar issues geting the .exe to run - I get as far as User Acount Control asking whether I want the app to make changes to the computer, reply 'yes' and then nothing further happens (incluing if I run as administrator). I've re-downloaded the installer twice in case the file was corrupted, but same issue each time (with Premium membership).
