Why would any sensible person want to blow 25 quid on something we have had for years that works perfectly and comes in every color you could possibly need.
Apart from just being a big fan boy there is no point in this add on. The time it would take to replace all the old scenarios with this unit is just not worth it, and it's not like the old days when you used to get people making scenarios left right and center for every new release that came along.
I'm going to give this a miss too I'm afraid as it will just sit on the hard drive doing nothing. Thanks but no thanks AP. Nice try though. Maybe something that we need next time eh...
The oovee 156 is the only addon sold on steam without TSX.
Also it still has the temp dumps sometimes when opening the doors.
Whether that warranted the price tag of the new unit is up to you but I still don't disagree with the unit being remade because standards are higher (cab on the oovee one was incredibly dated) and because of the issues I listed above, along with more smaller issues.

And with the AP one, you get a heck of a lot of liveries out of the box that you have to spend a lot of time and bandwith downloading for the Oovee one (and while there are a lot of good reskins for the Oovee 156, there are also some quite dated ones)

The variants supplied in the pack have all been patched to fix this, so any that still cause issues are reskins still using the older, flawed, .bin file.
It was documented in here before DTG adopted it to use as an *official* patch:
https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic ... 0#p1768326
It's a very simple edit to 2 lines in the file, but if anybody can't manage it just shout.
USRailFan wrote:with the AP one, you get a heck of a lot of liveries out of the box
True, but a fair number are "variants on a theme" having only different branding.
USRailFan wrote:you have to spend a lot of time and bandwith downloading for the Oovee one
But do you need them
all at the same time? … and the bandwidth consideration works two ways--what about the extra bandwidth the bigger download package would use? That really is an argument that's right from the bottom of the barrel to justify purchasing the AP version.
Whilst they may have some validity, those points are not enough to make the new model a clear cut winner
if you already have the original 156--AP's version doesn't really justify spending 25 quid if you're in that position.
If you don't have the original, then it's much simpler...the AP model is slightly (personal opinion here, having compared them side by side) superior to the original, as you'd expect being 8 years or so newer, so if you're happy to view it as a *slightly dearer than the other stuff released recently" offering it becomes the sensible choice. If cost is a concern, then the original at half the price of the AP offering is still a viable piece of rolling stock; OK, there's no "rain drops on windows" but if you only drive it in good weather you'll be fine.

Even though I have the original and the soundpack, I will probably buy it when funds allow, mainly because I like driving the units that have the newer features - But it will be bought after the 37 pack cos that is apparently awesome.

I am guessing we can’t expect a fix for the missing drivers or passengers anytime soon as looks like AP has moved onto. His next project. But if a slap in the face for people who spend £24,99 on a buggy DLC. If this was DTG all hell would be let loose

Have to agree the price is a bit steep however good it may be, but also the fact the provided scenarios require about £500 of AP products to function (which does not encourage further purchases as perhaps intended, it just alienates me). I would have honestly thought it better value for potential buyers to provide a bunch of scenarios out of the box, that work with a few different DtG routes using the 156 and default stock for that route as AI. Those who like to mess about editing scenarios can then do so at their leisure. Personally I see no value in the pack; I would get a nice 156 but no ready-to-run scenarios to enjoy it with.

AP are the only ones who know if the price is set right by how many sales they have. If they are getting sales at the current price and making profit then they are happy. If they see a downturn in sales at a higher price they may well reduce in the future. I believe the Class 40 dropped in price after a short while. Then there are sales of which AP have quite a few. Newer products are often not on sale but eventually they get included. This becomes how much you have to have the product right now or wait ? Everyone has a different idea of what counts as expensive. For some it's what they spend on Costa coffee every week, for others half their food budget. I own the Oovee but I will be getting the AP. Its the little things that give it that touch of realism that I like.

Shouldn’t require a path to fix something so obvious in the first place. When your charging silly money for a single unit it should be checked then double checked before release rather than shoving it out broken in the first place.
Just love how you ALWAYS jump on my posts whenever I dare say anything negative about your oh mighty god yet don’t jump on anyone else.
I would say I feel sorry for you but then I wouldn’t be telling the truth

So because the Scenarios with this unit require other items you don't own it is not worth getting?
Even if the unit did come with scenarios which Only had the 156 you still might not be able to play them if you did not own the route they were made for.

Ths key word is "value" Pster, some will view it as being of value no matter what the monetary cost, others won't. Simple as that, you like it or leave it.
It has no value for me, but not because I don't/won't have some stock used--RW Tools deals with that, which illustrates how each of us have differing opinions.

But Gary it must of value because after-all it has AP name
On it I mean come on.

I was just surprised that he was rejecting the units based on the scenarios that came with it
Most of the add ons I have bought the included scenarios have not been played.

Time will tell if the price is sustainable.
Personally I thought the class 37 was getting expensive and the Class 156 is in my view less value, because it's got less physical variants and no snow version. It's also got a direct competitor from DTG, which isn't really the case for the Class 37. The DTG one is half the price and not being a 156 connoisseur it is more than adequate for my purposes.
Others will feel differently, but I suspect that AP may be beginning to encounter serious price resistance with the 156.

For my two penneth I'd have to say for a unit, for me it's too expensive , I only tend to use units as background for the proper trains so I wont be buying, definitely not at full price anyway, if it was a loco type we didn't have and it was up to AP's usual standard I'd be all over it. This is not to say it isn't good quality because I'm sure it is but I just care enough about 156's to spend this much sorry
