I must say, I'm rather looking forward to this route. Yes, it could go further, but that's the same with every route is it not, so as long as it is priced well enough I'll be all over it. I'll admit I do have an unhealthy obsession with the SWD, but more 3rd rail lines away from Kent are always welcome...

As I said in an earlier post that seems to have got lost in the he said this and he said that,

You can use it as a Blue Grey or NSE Era route,there are plenty of EMU's you can download on Backdated Train Sim,and also 4 Cig Big,2 and 4 EPB's 4 Subs 2 Hal Not sure if there is a 4 Vep,what would be handy is a 4 REP and 4 TC. Locomotives that could be seen class 33,37,47, and ED class 73.
As it's a simulation you can imagine the route was electrified all the way to Weymouth when the route was electrified in the 1960's

Guys I've got to say that reading and participating in these discussions is at times more entertaining than train simming! Yes, really.

As for this route, I'll wait to see what its like before I pass judgement, but I understand the frustration of those who fear a missed opportunity.

I don't welcome abrasive negative comments, but I do believe they should be allowed. You defeat a bad idea with a better idea, not by gagging the speaker.

Someone said they don't like long routes,,why?,you don't have to go end to end,if there are stations,factory's and sidings,logical places to start and stop scenario's,then a longer route will have more opportunities to put them in,,on this route IRL,it only has docks and the New Forest,,there are a few cab rides on you tube for this route,watch them,then make up your mind. I am afraid DTG have made their mind up,so Southampton to Bournmouth it is,like it or lump it ( unless after many complaint's,they may change their mind ),but I think not lol,,so if you like it,buy it and enjoy.

It is a no from me, line is too short and lacks potential, Southampton to Woking would be a much better choice and more varied scenarios could be run.

I think maybe Bournemouth to Basingstoke,would be better,I think Bournemouth to Woking is to long time wise,current time from Bournemouth to Basingstoke is 1Hr10min,according to the trainline information.

At least Bournemouth to Basingstoke,you can have Freight trains,container traffic to Southampton,from Basingstoke,and maybe Oil trains to Fawley,I don't think there is much freight going through Bournemouth these days.

It is wonderful having a choice and not having a gun put to your head forcing you to purchase something, you would think reading some comments that you didn't have a choice.

Personally some of my favourite routes are short, I am finding especially with TSW short routes aren't a barrier to enjoyment, although there is a lot more interaction in the sim.

The Wherry lines are short yet are one of my favourites, the WHEL is short also one of my favourites, and my all time favourie is the Riviera in the 50's which is also short. In fact I am finding with less time to use a Trainsim that I don't have time for long routes and after 30 minutes of racing along at 100mph I am actually nodding off!

I will get it eventually as I have 2 other routes on my list,the Stainmore Line by SSS and the Mossel Bay South African Route which will be released by DTG when it's ready.

I'm just curious if any ship will be in Southampton docks,I can remember the Days when you could see Union Castle ship,P&O Oriana or Canberra,and Cunard Queen Elizabeth or Queen Mary you could see them all from the train.

Those were the days, the big liners. Got to look round the Queen Mary and Windsor Castle at Southampton, got tea and biscuits on the latter!

I've actually been on the Windsor Castle when I lived in Durban,went from Durban to Cape Town via Port Elizabeth and East London,then drove back to Durban along the Garden Route.

There are still the monster cruise liners in Southampton regularly. Last Saturday they had 5 in for fast turnarounds. From where I am in Portsmouth I see them and the huge container ships heading out past the Isle of Wight.

I have to admit, it's not a part of the country I'm familiar with, must be 40 years since I was anywhere near Southampton and I've never been to Weymouth. My long wished for route is Liverpool - Hull, so I suppose this is a step in the right direction---2 coastal towns!

Not quite. Our original office location overlooked Portsmouth Harbour station (17 floor tower block 1 street in from the seafront) and we could watch the trains from the canteen on the top floor and see the ships up close. Our new office is right out of town on the M27 junction so no such luck. Since they introduced our new "net-nanny" I no longer have access to UKTS from work since it is classed as a "Gaming site" so the days of approving posts at lunchtime and in boring conference calls are long gone. The upside of the office move is that it trimmed 20 minutes of my Monday and Thursday commutes not having to get in or out of Portsmouth town centre

However, the house in Farlington where I rent a room in for my weekdays has a clear view out to sea and on an evening I can see the the ships out of the window as they head east out of Southampton before turning to their desired courses.

DTG have put a bad set of promotional photos on the product page. None of them that I can see show anything unique to the line!

Interesting stock though, who would have expected an A2? Price is a bit lower than I was expecting.
